8/30/10 I'm feeling great! Ideas are flowing constantly... my vision and resolve to make things happen is more clear and powerful than ever. I will admit that I want to conquer the world in my own way, so I guess I've got my work cut out for me... I've taken some time off for the last few months to think about what the next stage looks like. There is so much to be grateful for as I look forward to re-establishing seaplane service in San Juan sometime in 2011. I won't go into many details right now, but I want to share my thoughts on another important lesson learned... The age-old lesson of never giving up. Follow your heart and be flexible in your thinking and planning. Stay focused on the target and somehow, over time, the otherwise 'seemingly illogical' heart-felt decisions make sense all of a sudden. Funny thing is, puzzle pieces definitely seem to fall into place for me when I least expect them to. It's almost as if you can push them only so far sometimes and then they sort of vibrate into place on their own, usually just in time...
I had a discussion with a friend of mine about how I first started out 15 years ago, straight out of my MBA program, without a clue, a gringo headed to a foreign island where the culture, language and way of life was in-fact perfect for planting the seed... My concept of what Seaplanes in Paradise should be is somehow being embraced now more than ever by all the right players. My friend and I agreed that sometimes, it's best that you don't know what you're doing, you're just following your heart and doing the best you can. You have an inner knowing, a horizon to point towards and you keep heading that way... The universe somehow has a way of rewarding all of those who keep the faith, no matter what it takes!
"Life entrepreneurs resolve to shape their own destiny. In doing so, they must be awake to possibility, recognizing that when we embrace big new ideas, we can elevate our condition and help others do the same. When we do, we often find ourselves, suddenly, in the right place at the right time, surrounded by the right people, thinking about the right things. Rather than being tossed about by changing circumstances, we discover opportunity in challenge and change.
Accepting the possibility of change often means overriding our psychological circuitry. In their paper, "The Neuroscience of Leadership," David Rock and Jeffrey Schwartz write, "Large-scale behavior change requires a large-scale change in mental maps." Human beings are wired to box things in. According to Dr. Edward De Bono, a leading international expert on human cognition, our thoughts become "etched" into our brains each time we think them, strengthening as electrical connections and making it harder for us to change.
Parents have expectations for us, teachers coach us into a particular mold, employers slot us into a defined job, and even our friends have expectations for us. We are unknowing co-conspiritors in this process, and the ruts of our routines grow deeper as we grow older, making it even harder to change the way we do things.
Optimists take life by the horns, intrinsically believing it is theirs to take. The pessimist's helplessness is replaced by hopefulness; quitting is replaced by persistence and tenacity. Optimists (and life entrepreneurs) are inclined to see opportunities where others see barriers.
Of course, optimists also experience setbacks, but their reaction to these setbacks set them apart. The optimist sees a negative event as a temporary setback, something to be learned from, specific to that event, and a consequence of factors that often aren't his or her fault.
Mindfulness entails continually creating new categories, remaining open to new information and different points of view, accepting uncertainty, changing the context, re-framing, and enlisting the mind in creative and playful ways. In a state of mindfulness, we can become "switched on" to the opportunities around us."
I came across a great Mantra that anyone could easily memorize and benefit from since it's as true as anything else you choose to believe...
"I am Whole. I am Perfect. I am Strong. I am Powerful. I am Love. I am Harmonious. I am Happy."

"The real voyage of discovery consists not in seeking new lands, but in seeing with new eyes." - Marcel Proust
6/18/10 The path is winding. I sure do pray for all the entrepreneurs out there taking a stand for what they believe in, keeping the faith that they can improve the status quo and make a go of all their dreams, regardless of what the economic climate might otherwise favor. I believe that one has to step back and realize that there is a lot of static out there, especially right now. It's so strong that if you don't stay focused, you can get lost in it and lose sight of your horizon. This idea of Life Entrepreneurship addresses what it can feel like and how best to walk the line. It's a lifetime commitment and you have to roll with the punches if things don't work the way you envision for a variety of reasons - you have to refine your approach and really listen to your heart. Truth is that sometimes we put the cart before the horse and realize down the line that we've been the one pulling the whole gang along, when we could switch things around and become extremely efficient in attaining our goals.
"The life entrepreneur's path is decidedly non-linear. This winding path can cut back on itself, jump ahead, and zigzag unexpectedly. After all, this is life we're talking about. The steps on the path may look simple and straightforward on paper, but in reality they are far from it. Sometimes, they flow sequentially, but that is the exception. Often, they double back, take us on scouting expeditions up new trails, or confront us all at once and threaten to overwhelm us. For some, the path makes sense only on looking back. The bottom line is that life entrepreneurship does have a natural framework to follow, but it frequently requires improvisational choreography of order and disorder, resulting in a dance that is sometimes chaotic and always unique.
Each person's path to becoming a life entrepreneur is different. Some are meticulous in their planning before embarking; others leap right into it. Some are like chess players, thinking several moves ahead; others are like abstract artists finding meaning and richness through a more spontaneous and playful process." The latter would be me, however I think I find myself switching gears a bit and may become a little more like a chess player.
"Walking the path is only half the battle. How we walk the path is just as important. The mind-sets we adopt, approaches we take, and provisions we stuff into our rucksacks for the journey ahead are just as important as the steps themselves. It is this combination of the path and how we walk it that determines the quality and character of our lives."
Victory is Now!

3/1/10 My father passed away in January and as I'm reading through "Life Entrepreneurs", It struck me odd that I should share the human side of a personal loss that goes to the core of who I am. I think it's a healthy thing to do. Normally, we shy away from death, but maybe we should talk about it more often and what it means to us while we're living! My father, Jorge Eliecer Cantillo was born in Bogota, Colombia in 1938. He came to America with nothing and worked harder than anyone I ever knew. He instilled his work ethic in me since I was a little boy, as far back as I can remember, I was my dad's right hand man always. I went everywhere with him. My fascination for travel started with him... He would take us on the greatest family road trips ever! We even drove from NY to Acapulco, Mexico just to break in his new diesel Pontiac Bonneville... Talk about epic adventure, just to hang out on some exotic beach in a foreign land. Who does that anymore? He owned his own trucking company (I named it Zebra Trucking... My fascination for entrepreneurship probably has something to do with that too) and my fondest memories were getting up at 4 am in the morning with him and hitting the open road when nobody else was out there... I was glued to my dad for a lack of better words. Whenever we were home, I would help him with everything from landscaping, masonry, carpentry, electricity, painting, to truck and auto maintenance... I would get so upset if he left for a trip or started a project without me for whatever reason. When I was on the road with him, If I got tired, I would just crawl into the sleeper and chill out. I felt like I was on top of the world, exploring the great unknown. As I think back, it makes me so sad and yet so happy to have known him, to have had the pleasure of being friends with him. I will forever love my dad for working so hard, sacrificing opportunities so that he could give us all the opportunities he never had.
"There are seasons in life - times to drift a little and enjoy the ride, times to seek deeper meaning and greater self-awareness through purposeful reflection. Without those periods in our life, we sacrifice a bit of our humanity. Life's winds can change unexpectedly, requiring us to navigate in and out of these quadrants through reflection, renewal, and reinvention.
The good news for those of us not satisfied with our lives is that we can change where we stand. Movement along new avenues is always possible, but much is required of those who seek to change. The question quickly arises: Change toward what? That is, what are we aiming toward? That's no small question. As we begin to address it and seek a proper repository for our aspirations, we start to catch glimpses of "the good life."
"What then shall I do this morning? How we spend our days is, of course, how we spend our lives... There is no shortage of good days. It is good lives that are hard to come by." Anne Dillard
"Life entrepreneurship can help us realize what Aristotle called "the good life" He believed that in the good life we find happiness - not in the contemporary sense of a pleasurable (and often fleeting feeling of contentment, but in the ancient sense of eudaimonia, meaning happiness through virtuous action, habits of moral excellence, and a full flourishing of self. The good life is achieved by putting into practice what we believe, fulfilling our very nature, and attaining excellence as people and citizens-the very best of us.
Creating the good life is about pursuing our potential in a deliberate and purposeful way. According to psychologist Carl Rogers, "The good life is a process, not a state of being. It is a direction, not a destination. For increasing numbers of people, an entrepreneurial life is a promising path to the good life."
My good life is dedicated to my dad, my beautiful daughter, Tiffany and every soul out there trying to reach that place where you can hold on to what really matters in your life, while letting go of the responsibilities and commitments that don't!

WOW! Time sure does fly... I didn't think it would take me this long to finish up the last entry, but I've landed in New Orleans for the next chapter of my life, along with the Saints winning the Superbowl and Mardi Gras... Somebody pinch me! I guess it's all a good lead in to what the Captains are all about... I didn't just get here by mistake. I've worked hard and gone with the flow, feeling my way through the maze! I believe that this decision to move to New Orleans with the intention of consulting for a very successful and long-running seaplane operation (Southern Seaplane) while I continue to build SIP up worldwide is the best choice right now! I'm thrilled to be a part of a thriving community that has been through so much difficulty in the last few years. I look forward to contributing in my own way to the beautiful pursuit of happiness and peace in this very unique part of the world!
"Captains know where they want to go in life and have the drive to get there, actively steering in that direction. They assume command of their lives, perhaps out of instinct or conviction, taking the help of their ships and steering purposefully toward a horizon that intrigues them.
Take Kevin Johnson. During his twelve-year National Basketball Association career, "KJ" was a three-time NBA All-Star and one of only four players to average at least twenty points and ten assists per game over three seasons. Since retiring from basketball, he has focused his legendary drive in a new direction. That includes founding and working with a number of community organizations in his native hometown of Sacramento, California: the St. Hope community revitalization project, St. Hope Public Schools (a public charter school district serving two thousand students), St. Hope Neighborhood Corps (training young people to community leaders), St. Hope Development Company (a real estate company that has developed an estimated $15 million worth of projects in the community), and an art gallery. His focus is on bringing lasting hope to his hometown, particularly through quality education. From captain of his team to captain of these community service efforts, Kevin embodies the better qualities of life entrepreneurship."
From the land of the Fleur de Lis... Come on down to the French Quarter in New Orleans Y'all! You'll love it!

I've been doing a fair amount of thinking, selling and learning over the last few months. I've also been working on some exciting projects, one of which I'm hopeful will resurrect a service in the Keys that I participated in a few years ago. If all goes well, seaplane service will start to shape up from Key West to the Dry Tortugas National Park in February, 2010, so mark your calendar! Talk about remote, about 70 miles west of Key West, but well worth the 1/2 hour flight when compared to a 3 hour trip by ferry each way. That's on a good day with no swells or wind... That doesn't happen too often. Looking around my desk, I see the books and magazines are piling up... Next book to talk a little bit about will be "Three Feet from Gold", but for now I'm going to keep going with the idea that we're going to understand Life Entrepreneurship. I am fascinated by business and certainly consider myself a Captain. I've always had the drive and direction up front and personal. The following stories are truly inspirational!
"It turns out that we can assess our drive and direction to help gauge our current life circumstance. In so doing, we can identify what elements are missing and then go do something about it. At any point in our lives, we are likely to be in one of four possible life patterns: we can be low in both direction and drive (what we call drifters); high in direction, but low in drive (passengers); high in drive, but low in direction (seekers); or high in both drive and direction (captains).
Drifters are on a raft letting the wind and waves take them out to sea. They go with the flow, without a sense of where they are going or the drive to figure it out.
Mary Cutrufello is a Yale graduate turned rock star. In the course of her notable musical career, she released several albums and toured the world, but was suddenly stricken with a case of infected lymph nodes in her neck that caused her to lose her voice. Banished from her dream world of music, she started to drift in life, adjusting to her new reality and yearning to recapture her drive and direction...
Passengers know where they want to go in life but haven't yet summoned, or have somehow lost, the drive to get there.
In their twenties, Beth and Devon Santa were both making a living at office jobs that paid well but left them flat. After they met and fell in love, everything changed. They discovered they had a common passion (friends call it an obsession) for sailing and adventure, coupled with an independent spirit. So they sold off most of their worldly goods and struck out on a seafaring adventure: starting a business that moved sailboats from port to port for races and regattas, allowing them to be out on the sea for much of the year. They have since expanded the business to include other services at local marinas and have started a family. Today they are still madly in love, happy to have ocean waves beneath their floating office, and grateful to have reignited the drive behind their shared direction.
Seekers have drive but haven't yet discovered the horizon they want to sail toward. They have an itch to see new lands and find themselves wandering. They are yearning for direction, not yet sure where they want to end up.
Growing up in southern California, Chip Conley had no shortage of drive. As a boy, he started a restaurant in his parents' dining room, launched a neighborhood newspaper, and even organized an "annual Olympics" for the kids on his street. "I was the one who was going to be president by the time I was thirty five." he muses. In college, he was a star athlete. He got into the real estate business through his Uncle Bruce, a maverick developer. He recalls, "I was surrounded mostly by guys who were complete testosterone junkies. It was a 'good old boy' network." It was a "habitat," as he calls it, where he didn't feel at home.
By his senior year in college, Chip had started a real estate consulting firm with a fraternity brother but soon decided that it wasn't for him. He was seeking. He enrolled in business school right after college and interned at Morgan Stanley in New York City. "Here I was in New York," he recalls. "I was twenty-two, wearing suspenders, smoking cigars, hanging out with the guys, doing deals. And I was coming out as a gay man."
Chip recounts, "I was dying inside. I was so possessed by trying to make you love me for my achievements that I was actually creating this identity that was disconnected from myself. I wanted people to love me for the hologram I created of myself.... When I told my dad I was gay, it really wiped the slate clean in terms of what I wanted to do."
Starting over, he found his direction. On his twenty-sixth birthday, he finished writing a business plan for an avant-garde hotel based on a spirited rock 'n' roll theme. It was a transformative moment. "Within two months," he says, "I not only found the property but bought it with investors' money and was off to the races."
Today, this onetime seeker is the largest boutique hotel operator in California. All thirty of his hotels have creative designs and motifs. He says, "I actually called the company 'Joie de Vivre' for myself first and foremost-it was a reminder to me that this is why I am doing this. Today, I've created a habitat where I can actually dare to be myself." He also wrote a book called, The Rebel Rules: Daring to be yourself in Business. For Chip, becoming himself meant channeling his strong drive into a direction that was aligned with who he was becoming.
Captains know where they want to go in life and have the drive to get there, actively steering in that direction. They assume command of their lives, perhaps out of instinct or conviction, taking the helm of their ships and steering purposefully toward a horizon that intrigues them."
THIS IS WHAT I WOULD CONSIDER MYSELF. I find these stories fascinating!!! Thinking back, I was about 26 when I took off from Long Island in a plane very similar to the one in the picture below, on my way to Puerto Rico to show adventure travelers a new way to exploring their world...

I started reading the first chapter of this book again and I know why I liked it so much. It's real! It cuts right to the chase - No Bull! It makes me feel great to know that even though I feel consistently challenged and sometimes frustrated with the world around me - I'm creating my life - I'm taking full responsibility for everything that happens and ultimately I know that my creativity will enhance peoples's lives all over the world. What more can anyone ask for? To have the opportunity to build a business that provides fun solutions. I caught the tail end of an interview with this 16-year-old (Zac Sunderland) who recently sailed around the world alone - youngest to do it - imagine 13 months alone - well almost - I'm sure he wasn't too lonely whenever he made a new port:) Got me to thinking about a project a friend and I had started a few years back. The project was focused on a circumnavigation by a single-engine amphibious seaplane (Never been done before), with an emphasis on global education via the internet. One of the primary objectives was to work with www.reefcheck.org and help participants learn more about coral reefs and their on-going challenges all over the world. Deep in my heart and soul, I know that I'll get it done, and I'm working hard to gather the momentum to bring this dream (One of many) to fruition... Thing is, I think we're almost obligated to inspire others through our actions if we have the capacity to IMAGINE and TAKE ACTION! I want to take this moment to applaud Zac's parents and all those parents out there in the world tonight for teaching and standing by their kids to think big, not to hold back, to stare danger right in the face and keep pressing onward - pushing all limits within reason, while following their hearts...
"I would rather be a superb meteor, every atom of me in magnificent glow, than a sleepy and permanent planet. The proper function of man is to live, not to exist."
- Jack London
"Some people don't just live; they lead a life. They don't sit around waiting for a lucky break; they create opportunities for themselves. They go after their dreams and bring them to life. Rather than bending to the status quo, they change it. Rather than being imprisoned by circumstance, they turn it to their advantage.
They assess their direction in life and determine whether it fits with who they are and what they want. They develop a vision of the good life, devise a plan for how to attain it, go for it, and check their progress along the way - all the while addressing with creativity and flexibility, the inevitable obstacles that arise. As with any great effort, their work is never done but ever-evolving, and it is often inspiring to those around them.
Welcome to the territory of a life entrepreneur... One who creates a life of significance through opportunity recognition, innovation, and action. Being a life entrepreneur is about developing an authentic, personal vision for our life and then going after it. It's about awakening to the opportunities around us and setting audacious goals. It's about building healthy support systems and marshaling resources. It's about taking action and making a difference. And it's about taking time out for reflection so we can renew ourselves for the road ahead."
I'll close with this quote because somehow it seems to tie everything together...
"My life is not a adrift. There is no road map, but there is a horizon that I'm moving towards. That horizon is broad, but it is informed by what I believe... The keel to your boat needs to be your values, your principles, your beliefs, and some sense of purpose, but that needs to be aimed at a horizon, not a point of latitude and longitude, because that point may turn out to be irrelevant."
Thinking about Denali for next summer! Pit stop on the "The Great Seaplane Adventure"?

I'm introducing a new book, "Life Entrepreneurs - Ordinary People Creating Extraordinary Lives," by Christopher Gergen and Gregg Vanourek. This is definitely worth your time. It fits with everything we as entrepreneurs go through on a regular basis in an ever-changing world. A great deal of research was conducted to bring us this valuable information, rather inspiring to say the least and a constant reminder that although the road feels pretty lonely at times, we're not alone. We're all driven to blaze our own trails, regardless of the ups and downs, the hidden challenges, the unforgettable victories, yes, even the humbling defeats that have their place in the big picture.
"All of the entrepreneurs we interviewed made a conscious decision to walk their own path and forge their own future - often going against prevailing expectations.
There was a direct correlation between the purposefulness and conviction with which they walk their path in life and the passion and joy they feel for their life and work.
Many of them don't think of themselves as dividing their time between "work" and "life." For many, these are integrated, not compartmentalized, pursuits. They are creating, owning, and taking responsibility for every facet of their lives with an integrated approach.
Their dispositions toward risk were all over the map - ranging from those who were somewhat risk-averse to a few intrepid "risk junkies." But they were all willing to take measured risks in pursuit of a worthy project or goal. They saw risk as an inherent part of life and took steps to mitigate it through thoughtful planning and disciplined execution.
All of them have experienced failure and dealt with significant setbacks. Many have encountered life-changing episodes of tragedy, illness, loss, financial difficulty, and more.
Several found great value in stepping off the path to renew, recharge, and sometimes reinvent their lives, discovering that periods of activity and achievement must be counterbalanced with periods of rest and regrouping.
Their life path was usually a winding one, not linear. In most cases, it made much more sense looking backward. As they moved forward, they were both shaping the future and responding to it.
Most of them came to the conclusion that it's not all about them - far from it. They have cultivated healthy support systems, and many have become deeply connected, civic-minded leaders."
I'm currently reading another very interesting book, called, "The Tipping Point" - I have to shake my head, because as I continue reading where I left off, I've underlined...
"From these interviews and our research and experiences, we conclude that leading life in an entrepreneurial manner can be what tips our lives from ordinary to extraordinary."
I think this world is pretty fascinating. I celebrate all the brave souls willing to lay their asses on the line... and just keep pushing until they break through...
"To be nobody-but-yourself - in a world which is doing its best, night and day, to make you everybody else - means to fight the hardest battle which any human being can fight; and never stop fighting."
- E.E. Cummings
I thought this video was fun since we're talking about Extraordinary!
Here's a picture from a few years ago, landing in Mexico, not far from world-class bass fishing lake baccarac. The kids were amazing... They all came running out to the plane while I was still taxiing into park. I love Mexico!

The Law of Finale. End of story. This fine book, "You can have an amazing life in just 60 days!" by Dr. John F. Demartini has definitely impacted my personal and business life in very profound ways - and I remain a work in progress... Seaplanes in Paradise, my BIG dream looks pretty amazing when it's 'finished', although I don't ever want it to be done. I want to create a model that is always evolving to serve, with the highest quality in mind, while allowing younger generations the opportunity to contribute what they have burning inside of them... To be able to explore without limitations, to discover new realities once only dreamed of... I look forward to creating a lasting legacy that gives indefinitely, sharing adventures in aviation and space travel...
"When setting goals and thinking of what you'd truly love in life, you may have heard of the "last is first" principle. I call it the Law of Finale. In other words, when you're making plans in your life, the first principle is to start with the final end product." I.e. Flying Fish Industries is going to be the ultimate, state-of-the-art R&D, Manufacturing, and Servicing Company in the world for amphibious aircraft of the future...
"Management expert Stephen Covey says in in this way: "Begin with the end in mind. I say that you should see the final outcome of what you imagine and start from there.
I learned this from an architect who designs many of the worlds' skyscrapers. He begins his process by creating a model of how he'd love his building to look. He then imagines every detail, working his way back to these thoughts: WHAT WOULD I LOVE TO DO HERE? WHAT GOES THERE? HOW DOES THIS LOOK? He continues until he gets to the first thing he'd love to do - so he starts with the last and finds his way to the beginning.
I use this principle whenever I plan. For example, when I'm writing a book, I precisely imagine the final product that I'd love to see, and then I ask myself about the different pieces - the theme, the title, the four cardinal messages, and then three sub-messages for each one. Next, I bring it down into ever-finer detail, asking myself, WHAT PARAGRAPHS, WHAT SENTENCES, AND FINALLY, WHAT WORDS WOULD I LOVE TO USE? I work my way back from the final product all the way down to the smallest detail that I can act on today.
Begin with the outcome you hold in your heart and trace your way to daily action steps. If you start with the big picture and progress to the small bits, you'll find that it's as they say: "By the inch it's a cinch, but by the mile, it's a pile." If you work from the last to the first and break it all down into small bits, anything can be accomplished.
Whether I'm writing a book, giving a seminar, traveling somewhere, or putting on a tour for a group, I follow this principle. For instance, I planned a tour to Greece with my students, where we'd be studying the philosophy of the Greeks in their own land and environment. I dreamed it down to the last detail. Then I worked my way back until I knew exactly what action steps to take each day to make the trip a possibility.
If you apply this idea to your plans and goals, anything is possible. Follow the Law of Finale to your dreams - and to your amazing life."
A friend of mine sent me this link, which makes this Law all the more interesting. The times we live in are going to become increasingly challenging, as if they're not already there... Honestly, I believe we're all in for a pretty intense wake-up call, one that can't be ignored. Nothing like a world full of opportunities and great adventures! Looks like I'll be heading to Hawaii next month to look at a business for sale - All part of the bigger picture... This is the Napali Coast during sunset. I envision offering tours of this amazing island in the not-so-distant future:)

The Law of Prayer.
I was doing some research in Northport, Long Island today and a realization hit pretty solid and once again the topic of today's blog fits really good. I felt so grateful to be living my dream, doing what I love with my time - Exploring possible landing sights that would stimulate the local economy, meeting new people who would love to see something come of what my imagination sees clearly, and ultimately finding viable solutions that serve directly and perhaps inspire others to dream bigger... I thought to myself, Wow, you, Zoltan are one lucky guy! All I know is that I am really savoring every moment that I possibly can.
"When most people think of prayer, they think of asking for help from a higher source to aid them in the traumas, tragedies, or anxious circumstances of their lives. Other people say, whey they become excited with the way things seem to be, say, "Oh, thank you! Thank you, God! Thank you, Universe! Thank you!" Their prayer is one of elation. Most individuals pray when they're really sad or really happy, really down or really up.
The secret of the most powerful prayer is to call on God not when you're ecstatic or depressed, but when you're poised, centered in your heart, and grateful. You're in God's presence then, not asking God to change this situation or fix that person, but grateful for all that is, as it is. This is the highest of prayers, which acknowledges the order of the universe rather than denying it. This contrasts with sitting before the order of the universe and thinking, Oh, I wish it would change and match what I imagine would support me.
The truest of prayers has reverence for the universal perfection. Now there's something to be grateful for! The highest and most powerful worship offers gratitude and asks nothing as it expresses thankfulness for what is, as it is. It has appreciation for every day, what you've been given, the opportunities to share and serve, all the people who come into your life, and all your experiences.
A great power is unleashed when you follow the Law of Prayer and are willing to see this universal magnificence with eyes of gratitude and say thank you. Don't spend your time waiting until you're down, and don't wait until you're elated. On a daily basis, be centered, focused, and in love, through this highest of prayers. This amazing power is truly an act of love and grace."
I've always been fascinated by old pictures. For me they tell so many stories and make you appreciate our world in color so much more... This is Northport in 1900.

The Law of Space and Time. Moving right along. I'm back in NY to broker flights, train and qualify for the upcoming winter season in Puerto Rico. I'm hoping that somehow we can all come together to solve the current economic challenges that face the great USA. Summer weather in the northeast has been a challenge up until recently, but it's looking much more promising now, so be sure to make your summer plans now and get your groups together for the only way to get to your destination - By AMPHIBIOUS seaplane of course. I was in NYC last night with a friend of mine watching aspiring actors and actresses doing what they love in a studio setting no larger than your living room. Love watching those souls pouring it out...
This law is all about creating an agenda and sticking to it as best as you can, while still maintaining the necessary flexibility... The challenge is to live as you've imagined! This quote came to me today from a mystery author,
"Doubt yourself and you doubt everything you see. Judge yourself and you see judges everywhere. But if you listen to the sound
of your own voice, you can rise above doubt and judgment. And you can see forever." Keep your sights on the horizon you choose to direct yourself towards...
"Imagine that you're going to work and you don't have a tightly booked schedule. Do you know what will happen once you arrive? The mail will distract you, colleagues and friends will call, and salespeople will show up-all kinds of things seem to come and fill the day. Whatever space and time you have in your life will become filled with low priorities, if you don't fill it with higher ones. An old Latin proverb cautions us that nature abhors a vacuum. Today, it's obvious that if you don't fill your hours with what you love, the world will fill them with the things you don't care for.
The secret of using this law effectively is to be certain that every minute of your day is devoted to things you love. When I was in my healing practice years ago, I learned that anytime I wasn't working with patients, I'd better come up with a list of high-priority things to do-I could then use every bit of my workday to build my practice or serve more people. If for some reason I wasn't directly serving a patient for a moment, my list reminded me to write a thank-you letter, give someone a birthday call, practice some sort of communication skill, or read some new clinical information. Since every minute of my day was filled with high-priority actions, my productivity soared.
Don't allow yourself idle time, or you'll find it overrun with low-priority actions. Instead, make your own agenda and take command of your space and time - after all, either it rules you, or you rule it. The secret is to make sure that you, from your heart, plan into your schedule what you'd love to receive. This may mean leaving in time for rest or meditation, but the key is scheduling it. Know in advance what you intend, start the day as you've planned, and then see whether you can live exactly as you've imagined.
When you go through your life with an agenda and with your tasks prioritized, you'll cluster and condense your activities to rule your space and time. Otherwise, you'll become distracted by the vagaries of life and won't know where you're going. Follow the Law of Space and Time to take command of your daily destiny."
I think you could apply this law to more than just space and time. Apply it to relationships, both personal and business. It is imperative if you are to live YOUR life as opposed to someone else's version of what they see for you - to be CRYSTAL CLEAR on what your dreams, aspirations, intentions, whatever you want to call what truly inspires you to live fully everyday... COMMUNICATE those details that make sense to you and then be open to negotiation and know your limits in advance. Be prepared to cut bait and continue fishing until you find the right set of circumstances that fit your desires. Easier said than done, but after getting crushed a few times, you get the jist of it or not. I think even the most stubborn person (Yep, that would be me) eventually gets it.
So, just out of curiosity, I googled Time and Space and of course all of this is probably too much information, but if you like to think outside the box and put things into perspective, you'll enjoy this link. Keep in mind this picture of Earth is taken from Voyager 4 Billion Miles away... and it's just getting ready to enter interstellar space! Fascinating.

"The Earth is a very small stage in a vast cosmic arena. Think of the rivers of blood spilled by all those generals and emperors, so that, in glory and triumph, they could become the momentary masters of a fraction of a dot. Think of the endless cruelties visited by the inhabitants of one corner of this pixel on the scarcely distinguishable inhabitants of some other corner, how frequent their misunderstandings, how eager they are to kill one another, how fervent their hatreds. Our posturings, our imagined self-importance, the delusion that we have some privileged position in the Universe, are challenged by this point of pale light."

The Law of Dominant Thought. Still thinking about this whole destiny, free will, random events or not argument... I, for one tend to agree at this stage of my life with the following quote from an interesting physics forum contributor... I think about the past when all I used to do was dream about Seaplanes in Paradise and fast forward to today and this is still all I dream about, well mostly anyhow and I still wonder... I am in the trenches, building one brick at a time and someday, maybe 20 or 30 years from now, I believe that we'll all look back and there will be a great story to be told and hopefully it will all make a lot of sense. The end of Slumdog Millionaire always reminds me of this whole destiny concept... "IT IS WRITTEN."
"I think that it is more important to understand this issue than anything else we do in this physical world.
A wise man I once read said that there was no coincidence in the universe. his meaning was that things don't 'just' happen. Rather, we make them happen.
I come from the perspective that our present is a product of a remembered past and an expected future. All probable life events exist and are valid. We choose to actualize the physical life thread we wish to experience.
Our spiritual self decides to be born into this world under a particular set of circumstance to satisfy one or many desires. I do not see them as glorious or altruistic, but something(s) that I want to experience or learn.
Now, as life unfolds, it is highly probable that these goals change and expand. the only fate or destiny that exist is the ability to achieve the goals that we originally established. Unfortunately, I think that the universe is a mutha. if we experience or learn what we set out for, our unconscious reaches out and says, 'damn that was easy, now what?'. right on cue, mutha nature (via our unconscious agreement) says, 'did ya ever think about trying it a different way?'. shazam! off we go into another adventure.
I see us with total freewill (within the rules of physicality) to experience what we wish. on the broader level (spiritual?) Ii think the rules expand and so does our freewill. It is a constant growth of awareness.
It is my contention that we create our reality in more ways than we can understand. being in touch with our inner selves helps manage (control) our energies and power. the power is probably contained in our belief system. we experience our reality based on what we believe, which directs our power.
To me, we are co-creators of the mass reality. Our mass experience is a reflection of the beliefs of all the people."
"You may have heard the axiom, "What you think about, you bring about." How true this is! You attract into your life those things that are related to what you send out in the form of your thoughts. Your inner-most dominant thought becomes your outermost tangible reality. Therefore, it's wise to examine your thinking process. You see, you're either ruled by your inspirations, or by one of two "desperations": The first is something with which you're infatuated; the second is something that you resent.
For example, imagine that you're walking down the street and see something you really admire. You think that there are more positives than negatives in this object, and it distracts you and takes up space and time in your mind. You suddenly find your thinking dominated by it, and perhaps you can think of nothing else. You're now being ruled by infatuation, it's acting as a kind of drug being released in your brain.
On the other hand, you may be driving down the street when someone cuts you off or runs into you. You resent that event and see more negatives than positives. You cannot quit thinking about it, and suddenly that takes over your mind. In other words, anything you're extremely emotional about, or which you become infatuated with or resentful toward - controls you.
However, if you were to take those infatuations and resentments and bring them back into equilibrium, until you're centered, then you could let that which truly inspires you dominate your thoughts. You see, you're either run by the outer world and therefore attract events into your life because of your outer circumstances and misperceptions, or you're ruled by your inner world, resonating with your inspirations.
I like to think of this from a theological perspective: You're either controlled by your senses or your soul. If your soul is in charge, then the things you love in life dominate your thoughts and you attract them into your life. Otherwise, you're governed by your senses, and the world around you calls the shots." BTW, this point is central when you choose to be an employee, as opposed to being an entrepreneur.
"Again, your innermost dominant thought becomes your outermost tangible reality. you can choose either to emotionalize your life and become a victim, or you can be inspired and become a victor. You control this..." I agree and it's really difficult to admit to this one...
"so if you don't take the time to put into your thinking how you'd love your life to be, then you're vulnerable to the outer sensory world. I recommend that you stop and reflect on the following: What would I truly love to dominate my thoughts? What would I truly love to have as the center of my life? Every day that you zero in on what you love gives you another opportunity to attract and create that.
Imagine if you spent 24 hours reigning in your random ideas and instead focused on how you'd love your life to be. The Law of Dominant Thought will help you master your life."
I had to do some major convincing to get my brother to come to Puerto Rico for a photo shoot a few years ago. I remember walking this beach like it was yesterday. Love the sunsets here. My brother and I are very lucky for all that we've seen and been able to share. Look forward to award-winning aerial and underwater photography in the future!

The Law of Condemnation. This law is all about growing up, and realizing that we have a much more important task in front of us. I think I watched a little too much of the Science Channel today. It was all really fascinating, but I have to say it really makes you think, like we don't do enough of that, right? I came across the following quote that sort of touches upon some deep points that should make you wonder if condemnation is a worthy consideration... Questions regarding destiny, free will and life purpose came up... Have fun!
"Yes, destiny does exist and it is very much controllable...and of course, only if you know how. Over the years I calculated destiny using the only calculator left by nature - my brain - and what I found was deeply disturbing...but in a very nice way. I found out that when its comes to the notion of 'SURVIVAL OF LIFE FORMS' we share the same fate as our so-called 'Lesser life forms', and above all that this sharing of the same survival fate with lesser creatures is not necessarily externally imposed but rather it's almost entirely 'self-imposed'.
We are the architects of our own destiny, given that we claim that we are structurally and functionally better than lesser creatures. This problem results from the notion of our general attitude to causal and relational progress in general. We simply refuse to structurally and functionally progress in the right sort of way. I don't know how it is in your own part of the world, but in general people and institutions are constantly insisting that we must not intervene with nature...that we should sit back, cross our legs and wait for nature to take care of everything. The way you feel about this subject is self-explanatory and quite understandable if this way of thinking and acting prevails." I think this writer is trying to inspire us to some sort of collective action!
"Personally, I am quite prepared to wait with everyone else and just sleep away and just hope for the best....but not without constantly drawing everyone's attention to the fact that it does not have to be that way. We do have the tool to take control of our destiny in a very collective way, even if it means that in the end we all went our own ways or everything derailed into a depthless and senseless oblivion." I for one am here to do my part. I will create a philanthropic foundation as early as next year that will grow from very humble beginnings and eventually fund the very projects seen on the Science channel, supporting innovating sources and leaders promising a cleaner, brighter, and peaceful world. I'm hopeful that war, fossil fuels, and poverty will soon be history, never to be repeated! We'll start there.
"Working with thousands of individuals around the world, I've observed that whatever people condemn, they actually tend to create, draw to them, or become. In other words, if there are parts of yourself you disown, you're likely to attract these qualities in others.
For instance, if you can't stand the way someone eats, the way they look, or some other habit of theirs (whatever it may be), stop and take a look in the mirror. Ask yourself, Where do I see in myself the things I can't stand in them? Where do I have this trait of theirs, and who sees it in me in some way? If you humble yourself, rather than judging others and becoming self-righteous, not only is there a higher probability of a shift in their behavior, by you'll learn to know and love them and yourself as well. When you're humble, you tend to get more assistance than resistance.
If you look closely enough, perhaps you'll see yourself as others do. It's almost certain that you're doing these same troublesome things in some form or other. I've heard it said that the seer, the seeing and the seen are the same. That is, you can only pick out what and how you are, so whatever you find in others is a reflection of yourself. Remember the biblical caution: It's wise to pluck the beam out of your own eye before you try to take a speck from another's.
Realize that condemnation just breeds more disgust over the same situation within yourself. One young lady who came to my seminar said, "I'd never do this in my life. Never!" However, about six months later she confessed, "I can't believe I said that. Three of the things that I swore I'd never do have now come into my life."
Instead of belittling others, understand that everything has a time and a place, and nothing's here to be put down, just understood. Open your heart and love: Rather than continually trying to force others to change, appreciate them for who they are, for everyone and everything has lessons to teach. The Law of Condemnation is a constant reminder to appreciate what you have and the people who share your life."
I'm gravitating more towards the island pictures right now. Heading to New York for the next three months and I'll certainly miss the tropical breezes, laid back lifestyle and wonderful people! NY is nice during the summer, nice to see my mom, dad and sister and keep learning... I'm excited to do some flying around Manhattan and Long Island. Nothing like it in the world!

The Law of Adaptability. I think I've mentioned this before, but it seems rather strange to me that we don't touch upon these details in our education system. Instead we're taught all the opposites somehow and then we have to spend a good portion of our adult lives working our way back to center... The problem with this approach is that many never survive the journey intact... I've definitely come to realize that it's far better to go with the flow, than to try and resist the momentum of the world around you... I found a great poem, author unknown that speaks to the Road to Success...
"Life is not so much a matter of position as of disposition.
The best vitamin for making friends, B-1.
If you don't care where you're going any road will get you there.
A pint of example is worth a gallon of advice.
He who throws mud loses ground.
A smile is an inexpensive way to improve your looks.
Ideas won't work unless you do.
The future is purchased by the present.
One thing you can't recycle is wasted time.
Triumph is just "umph" added to try.
He who forgives ends the quarrel.
Children need more models than critics.
Frogs have it easy, They can eat what bugs them.
The pursuit of happiness is the chase of a lifetime.
If the going gets easy you may be going downhill.
Jumping to conclusions can be bad exercise.
The best labor saving device is doing it tomorrow.
A turtle makes progress when it sticks its neck out.
Failure is the path of least persistence.
Patience is counting down without blasting off.
Have a backbone not a wishbone.
Some folks won't look up until they are flat on their backs.
If you want your dreams to come true, don't oversleep.
Friend - One who knows all about you and likes you just the same.
Birds have bills too and they keep on singing.
A good example is the best sermon.
The Ten Commandments are not multiple choice.
Well done! is better than, Well said!
Minds are like parachutes - they function only when open.
If you can laugh at it then you can live with it.
People don't fail, they give up.
When looking for faults use a mirror, not a telescope.
Smile, it takes only 13 muscles; A frown takes 64.
Kindness, a language deaf people can hear and blind can see.
A small leak can sink a great ship.
You can't direct the wind, but you can adjust your sails.
We lie loudest when we lie to ourselves.
Tact is the ability to see others as they wish to be seen.
A friend walks in when everyone else walks out.
If you must cry over spilled milk then please try to condense it"
"If you're unable to adapt to your environment, you can't survive - so said Dr. Hans Selye, an endocrinologist who studied stress all his adult life. The man whom many called "the Einstein of medicine" emphasized how essential it is to be flexible and pliant.
It was recently discovered that the human brain is highly changeable, able to constantly remodel itself - this means that every time you think new thoughts or have new feelings, your brain remolds itself, forming new neural pathways and connections. This adaptability is essential to your development as an individual and to human evolution, so when you set goals, don't be so rigid with your plans that your attempt to force things in order to accomplish them. The secret to mastering your mind is to remain adaptable to newly emerging events and insights as your pursue your dreams.
The Law of Adaptability depends upon your willingness to keep refining, defining, and acclimatizing again and again to the events and situations you experience in life. This isn't to be confused with procrastination or wavering on your goals; instead, the challenge here is to flex your plans and dreams, meaning that you're not so rigid and stuck in your own ways that you're unable to take advantage of new opportunities that come along.
For example, I once dreamed of building a magnificent clinic. I'd envisioned it as a multi-story, broad-based building. About three months into working on the project, another opportunity emerged: An office was available, which wasn't exactly what I had in mind (but was very similar to it), yet the price and location were irresistible. Although it wasn't precisely what I'd imagined at the time, it was actually even more suitable, and by not locking myself rigidly into the exact form of my ideas for growth, I was able to adapt and get one step closer to my dream.
Be adaptable, keep your eyes open and don't get so narrowly focused that you can't see even greater possibilities ahead. Just as your body doesn't function well if it's too rigid, so it is with your mind and your dreams. Allow yourself the flexibility to continuously evolve and follow the Law of Adaptability."
Sure is a spectacular world!

The Law of Order. Starting to wrap up this thought-provoking book and if there is one consistent message that keeps ringing true, it's this: Find the balance in your Life. Focus on Victory rather than acting like a victim as Life Happens. It's the only way to achieve your dreams, whether you're talking about personal or business matters. A growing number of people seem to be running scared, I mean take a small community church I went to this afternoon for mass. I couldn't believe that an obviously "well educated" couple would not extend their hand in peace, but rather folded their arms in an effort to ensure they don't get infected with the "swine flu" which by the way, Doctors "think" is spread through cough and sneezing - thereby making it an "air-borne" transmission... Wow! I don't think people realize that they're tearing at the very fabric that brings us together, isolating themselves from Living. We have always been and always will be challenged by things we can't see or understand, but it's my opinion that in order to be strong and continue evolving, we have to try and see the hidden divine order in things and not retreat in fear. It takes an awful lot of faith and hope, I'll admit, but what else do we have. I prefer to look for the blessings and miracles in everyday experiences...
"When I was 18 years old, I sat in the center of my room at my parents home and read a book by Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz called Discourse on Metaphysics. On the very first page of this text was an idea that inspired me so much it brought tears to my eyes: Leibniz had uncovered the great principles of divine order, divine perfection, and divine magnificence in the universe. I didn't understand at first why that touched me so deeply, but I began a quest at that time to discover why this had such an impact on me, and I somehow inwardly sensed that there truly was an underlying order in the world - that is, that life is purposeful.
You probably go along observing events and thinking, That's bad! or That's good! Yet a week, a month, or a few years later, you could look back at the so-called bad event and see that it wasn't so horrible after all. You'd see how it served you, although at the moment you thought it was unbelievably difficult. Looking back, you might think, Thank God that occurred! And that event you thought was so terrific? Perhaps you were going to acquire a new house or make some other major purchase, but now you see the responsibilities and consequences, such as new taxes, the cost of upkeep, and a lot of additional work. Your wonderful thing has some drawbacks, and those "terrifics" now have some "terribles" attached to them.
In other words, time and nature attempt to teach you to find the balance in life, which is the hidden divine order that Leibniz described so eloquently. He said that few individuals grasp this truth, and that the masters of life are the ones who see this in the universe. The majority continue ticktocking along, saying, "Oh, this is awful!" and "Oh, this is great!" They act like passive victims, rather than victors who know life's inherent beauty.
Why wait for days, weeks, or months to discover that all things exist in order? Why not achieve this wisdom of the ages without the aging process? The moment that you label an event as "dreadful," look for the blessing, and the moment you think an event is wonderful, look for its downside. Keeping your perceptions in balance is what I call, "collapsing the illusion" and opening your heart to the truth, which is that love is everywhere and in everything.
Rather than live in "terrible" or "terrific," why not dwell in the center? The truth - the Law of Order - is that inside every experience (which is a neutral event) lies the opportunity for the balance of opposites. No matter how you perceive anything, always look for the other side; you'll find the order, and your life will become even more amazing."
Where do you want to go today? I look forward to exploring this amazing planet with all of you willing to go where most simply won't...

The Law of Expression and Repression. This one is all about balance, emotional balance to help you achieve your greatest potential. We all experience highs and lows in life, both in our personal and business performances - there is really no shelter from those circumstances that challenge us. Truth is, challenges teach us to remain strong, and connected to our true source. One thing that rings true over and over for me is what I've been taught along the way. If you want to write a story, start writing... If you want to build something, start with one brick and keep adding additional mortar and bricks... If you want to be in the game of life the way you envision it, start walking, talking and stay focused on the horizon. Don't look back and don't worry about the future. Neither one exists in the present moment (Tha'ts All that really matters) - Sometimes you get it right, Often times, you don't, but at least you try and you continue learning until you get it just the way you want it...
"If you dig deep into your psychological and emotional makeup, you'll discover two components: The first is the one where you feel you're better or greater than you truly are, where you exaggerate your accomplishments by thinking you're "bigger than." This is your extroverted self that thinks, I can do it. I'm everything! I'm better!
The second part is the one where you feel you're worse or less than you truly are, where you minimize yourself, thinking you're "smaller than." This is your introverted self, where you think, I can't do it. I'm nothing! I'm worse!
One part of you builds up, and another tears down; and when these two aspects are realized at the same time, the central you is awakened. This is your true and transformative self. You have a dual personality revolving around a truly centered you, and when you emotionally elevate or depress your perception of yourself, you express and repress these personalities. When you integrate and center yourself, you become empowered and truly love.
Yet if you vacillate between these two, expressing one while repressing the other, you can feel like Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. Publicly you may be very optimistic, but you're privately pessimistic - nice during the day, mean at night; extremely extroverted, very introverted! Actually, both occur at the same time, but as you choose to own (express) and disown (repress) each of these parts, you can feel them oscillate. One woman told me, "During the day, I'm 'Miss Optimist,' a total extrovert. But when I get home, I just shut the telephone off and hide out. I become a hermit."
You don't have to live at the two extremes. As I discussed earlier, when you're grateful and integrated, your heart opens in love, and these components of your personality come together as the expressed and repressed join. Suddenly you're your true self, made up of these two sides.
Apply this to the art of communication: Imagine going on a date when you're in a highly self-righteous mode, and you're seeing someone who has a "self-wrongeous" attitude. Although you may initially assume that you're both at the same level, the other person is actually at their low point, while you're at your high point. In this scenario, you may minimize him or her, and they may exaggerate you. He or she will start out on your date rather infatuated, and you'll be rather blah; or you may try to rescue this person. Since you're both wearing masks, the relationship has an unstable beginning.
True love requires an open heart, which can't exist when you're trying to hide one part of yourself by wearing another aspect as a disguise. Yet when you're able to honor and exhibit all of yourself - the true you - you can be balanced and open your heart.
When your feelings are centered, you experience love. When they're lopsided, however, you have extreme emotions that can reveal distortions, lies, and exaggerations about your life. Your greatest potential and magnitude of opportunity occurs when you're focused. Through the Law of Expression and Regression, each behavior teaches you to hone yourself - they represent positive and negative feedback to help you become who you truly are."
This looks like a great place to own a vineyard by the sea, go sailing, offer ultra-lux seaplane service - you know, live the dream! Italy, stay tuned... Check out my brothers' site for more beautiful photography!

The Law of Quality. When you're done reading this blog entry, you might find yourself asking yourself as I do, why wouldn't I make every effort to continue expanding my capacities in every possible way... After all, we are so rich in abilities and if we can apply ourselves consistently to a higher purpose, I believe we'll be amazed at what we can all accomplish. It definitely takes a lot of faith to live a life filled with quality. You have to constantly challenge your pre-conceived notions of what is really possible for you and for the world around you. We are all creating the future together. What we do today is influencing tomorrow, so I can only hope that we're all following our dreams, while inspiring others. Always reach for the best that you can imagine and you'll realize that you're living a quality life.
"Every single person is at some stage or level of development. I don't know of anyone who gets up in the morning and says, "I wish I could be less, do less, have less in life, and be more impoverished. I wish I could drive a worse-looking car - a rusted, beat-up model that barely runs and has no air conditioning!" No one I know can honestly say they'd love that.
In all probability, most people wake up in the morning thinking (in their own way), I want to expand myself and broaden my horizons. I'd love to have a more meaningful and loving relationship, a fine car, and a beautiful home. It would be wonderful to become even more aware.
You see, most people would love to grow.
To evolve to the next step or plateau, it's wise to be willing to raise the bar on the scale of quality. For instance, I remember buying a $100 suite when I was working at J.C. Penney. (It was reversible as well, so you could wear it two ways.) I thought that was a pretty amazing deal. Now I realize that was my first step on the scale of quality. Next I bought a $200 suit, and since then I've graduated into more expensive, higher-quality clothing as I've been able to afford and appreciate it. The finer pieces look nicer and last longer, and I feel better when I wear them, which means that I act differently. I've learned that quality makes a difference.
If you go to an inexpensive restaurant that gives you a plastic spoon and plate, you'll have a different level of respect for the art of creating and eating food than you would in a five-star, fine-dining facility where quality presentation is a must. You're designed to grow, and to expand and prosper, so you naturally desire to keep pushing yourself to higher levels.
Imagine walking past a street display and seeing some cheap art and then going to a fine museum where you can view a masterpiece. Now put this in relation to your daily existence: If you surround yourself with quality, you learn to express quality. Make it your goal to say, "Today I'm going to expand myself just a little further," I encourage you, no matter what your lifestyle, to attempt to increase it by at least 10 percent every year. Beat out inflation and grow. If you don't, you're stagnating, and once you account for inflation, that means that you're actually going backward." If you consider the times we live in now, you better make it 20%!
"So take a step forward and make it a goal to say, "I'd love to go from one quality of clothing to the next, and even to the level beyond that. I want this degree of excellence in my car and home. I increase my caliber in relationships and every area of life that's important to me." STEP UP!
There's nothing inherently wrong with higher quality - you're investing in people who are masters of their art, rather than in those who don't respect themselves and just put something quick out onto the market. Invest in quality, and you honor yourself and the universe. You're worth it.
Say to yourself each day: My quality grows with every day that I live: the quality of what I eat, the quality of the clothes I wear, the quality of where I live and where I travel, the quality of my companions, and the quality of my relationships. The
quality of my own integrity and of the understanding of my true self is magnified. The quality of everything I do is upgraded. As a result, you'll live a quality life.
As long as you accept less than what you dream about, you'll keep receiving it; and as long as you accept less than what you'd love, you'll keep experiencing that. Ask yourself - and push yourself - to go beyond. When you decide to stay in a nicer place and pay a little bit more, you'll become accustomed to it, and you'll find that you'll begin to attract a new set of friends, great opportunities, and fresh ways of doing things. QUALITY WORKS!
Right by the phone in my office I have a placard that reminds me: "QUALITY FIRST!" Why spend your precious time and life on anything less? The process of increasing excellence makes a huge difference in your daily outcomes. Years ago I often gave my seminars for nothing, and they never seemed to get off the ground. Nobody valued them. Later I presented the same material for something: I made attendees compensate me. Now these evolved workshops attract people from all over and are held across the globe. People receive what they pay for, so if you'd love to experience an amazing life, be willing to pay for it - and be paid for it. Go for the Law of Quality."
For me - my commitment is pretty straight forward - The quality of my life on all levels grows with every day that I am fortunate enough to live. I want to provide quality services globally for a quality price, while living an amazing life full of love and freedom to explore my world...

The Law of Integration. I was thinking about this whole blog thing yesterday and wondering where all of this technology is taking us as a society. I think it's a self-fulfilling prophecy of sorts. We are all sharing so much, capable of learning just about anything we want to 24/7, traveling to just about any corner of this amazing planet within 24-48 hours... I think it's an absolutely fascinating life with so many opportunities. I guess if there was one thing I could suggest, it would be that somehow we were able to ensure that everyone and everything on this planet could live in harmony and prosper. Bit of wishful thinking, I suppose, but that's my inspiration. And of course, comes this law of Integration which breaks it down even further to an old truth and purpose in living. Doing what you love and loving what you do... Tomorrow is the 4th of July - Independence Day. Great day to be grateful for all we have and are capable of accomplishing individually and collectively.
"When people experience love and appreciation, their brains and hearts become energetically integrated as their brain and heart waves synchronize. In that state, the power of human intent is optimal, and you have the ability to create. When you have love in your heart and poise in your mind, you also have an integration of your left and right brain, as they become aligned too. Your heart's intuition and your brain's reason become one, congruent and centered. You have a power that can't be shaken or rocked, for with love, appreciation, and integration, you're stable and adaptable in your environment, like a martial artist who's trained to remain centered but who goes with the flow of circumstances. Since you're steadfast in your intent, it shows in your outcomes: No matter what the obstacles, you accomplish your objectives.
Love and appreciation are the most masterful states of being. Years ago I asked, "What's the underlying secret for attaining this condition?" I came to realize that with a balanced perspective, you don't get sidetracked, vacillate, or emotionalize. Instead, you experience inspiration and become centered. The secret of the Law of Integration is that you stay focused on your mission and purpose, and remain present and inspired about your life and what you do. Gratitude allows you to appreciate what you have, and you get more when you're grateful.
When you become congruently integrated, you have wellness, but when you become disintegrated, you breed illness. Your body's signs and symptoms are attempting to give you feedback to get you to break your illusions and lack of gratitude, and to awaken you to the truth, which will bring you to a state of appreciation and love.
Fear and guilt cause you to fracture yourself, but you become integrated into one being when you have love and appreciation. The latter are your most powerful states, for they cause your feelings to attract people, magnetizing opportunities. The Law of Integration is a magnificent key to an amazing and fulfilling life. Apply it, be grateful, and love your life!"
HAPPY 4TH OF JULY! Stay tuned... I'll have one of the the seaplanes painted along these lines to commemorate the commonwealth status of PR. FUN!

The Law of Study. Sometimes, I think we get so busy that we forget the importance of continuing our education, when we should be perfecting our personal mastery of talents and skills that truly inspire us to be creative and forward thinking. Aviation is changing at an amazing pace, as technology affords pilots, managers, and entrepreneurs new ways to become more efficient in every aspect of business development and operations management. I believe that one must always be learning in order to maintain an elite competitive edge. As I think about it more, it's important to stay focused, as opposed to being tempted by our new-found ability and inclination to overwhelm ourselves by doing TOOmuch. It's a fine balance that requires a fair level of maturity, and even delaying gratification at times.
"You may be thinking that a Law of Study sounds pretty uninspiring. I can just hear you saying, "I finished school years ago. I don't want to go back and crack the books." But you probably also realize, that when you finished your formal education, the practical, real-life learning began, and now you get to apply everything you absorb.
What area(s) of life do you intend to learn about and master?
Expertise of any kind requires effort, even it it's not the same kind of all-night cram sessions you may have experienced when you were younger. DId you know that if you studied intensively for just about any subject three hours a day, you could become an expert in relatively short order-potentially in just a few years? Here are some facts to consider:
- It's been shown that if people study even 30 minutes a day, in seven years they can be at the leading edge of their area of interest.
- If they study an hour a day, in around four to five years they can achieve the same results.
- Two hours of work each day can lead to the same goal in about two and a half to three years.
- Studying three hours a day means that in two years or less they can be at the forefront of their field.
I used this idea of concentrated learning many years ago, and I followed this time-line principle for a number of subjects. First, I set out to make a list of all the "ologies," all the different disciplines that I wanted to master in my life. I wrote them down and investigated what reading or other requirements it would take to receive a master's or doctoral degree in each field. I came to realize that the average person who gets a doctorate reads 75 to 80 books in that particular area of expertise, and I figured I could do that in many subjects.
Even though they say today that you should specialize, I believe that some of the greatest people in history had general knoweledge in many different areas."
I think it's important to note they had "general knowledge" no necessarily masters or doctorates in many different areas...
"Some of the most inspired geniuses (such as Leonardo de Vinci and Hildegard of Bingen) excelled in many areas, so, using them as my examples, I set out to understand and master many fields.
Among many other subjects I've applied myself to (including the skill of speed-reading), years ago I wanted to study dentistry. I went to the University of Texas dental school and asked, "What are the curriculae and texts that I would normally study to get my doctorate degree here?" The dean of admissions directed me to the book requirements, and I then devoured every necessary text. Less than two years later, I had the opportunity to lecture at a number of dental conferences as a specialist in that field. I proved to myself that if I studied something diligently for a few hours a day, I could be a master and reach the leading edge of knowledge.
Some people say that this isn't possible, but I'm giving you the key to making it happen: IF YOU STUDY EVERY DAY even for a few minutes, it may take you longer than completing a conventional academic program, but you'll eventually reach the upper echelons. After most people receive their degrees, they reduce the amount of their study time and review only old literature and a few journals. But believe me: You can study, and you can be a master - and just a few hours a day can make the difference. Even a few minutes a day can eventually help make you an expert. Decide what you'd love to master and follow the Law of Study; become a diligent lifetime student."
I envision a seaside vineyard by the sea, with a seaplane parked out back of course, to spend those three hours each day learning various disciplines that I would love to immerse myself in and somehow contribute to!

The Law of Marketing. I am inspired everyday to keep building Seaplanes in Paradise. I wonder where the energy comes from sometimes, but I think it really just comes from the gut, the soul, the internal ability to keep believing in those things yet unseen - the experiences I love and want to share with the world. I think every step I take towards manifesting this big dream of mine gets me closer to just being plain Lucky...but we all know luck doesn't just happen, right?
"This principle is one that you might not see in most marketing texts, but it's something you'll observe if you look around carefully. Imagine what would happen if you went to work thinking, "Oh, crud! I have to go to work today." You'd feel awful. If you're in this mood, you're exhaling desperation more than inhaling inspiration - you're de-spired rather than in-spired - and if you start your day in this way, whatever type of work you're in will actually tend to go downward.
This form of energy says to the world, "I'm overwhelmed! I don't really love doing what I'm doing today, and I don't want to be here." Your heart isn't into your business at the moment, and as a result, your customers probably won't be as attracted to you or your company. If you had a certain number of clients scheduled, you'll probably reduce them by half throughout the day (or your traffic will at least go down); cancellations may become likely, and new opportunities may lessen. Your inner energy and intention reverses any outward marketing efforts.
On the other hand, suppose you think, "I want to go to work today!" You'll have what I call a "want to" day: "Have to" leads to break down and "want to" leads to break even. Even if you're not necessarily inspired, you want to go to work, make a living, and go out and market yourself. In this case, whatever number of clients you had scheduled for that day will be about the same as the results you achieve: You'll break even.
NOW, imagine that you go to work telling yourself, "Wow - I love it!" You hear yourself throughout the day saying: "I love it! I love it! I love it! This is inspiring! Wow! Incredible! So Powerful! So Fulfilling! I love it!" Your energy is up, and in this case, instead of breaking down or breaking even, you break through. Now you break records, and rather than your scheduled number of customers (or half that amount), you get two or three times the clients for that day. You seem to explode and attract opportunities.
This is a phenomenon that I call the "Cosmic Marketing System." If you're in the "have to" mode, you shut off this power; at the "want to" level, you turn it on; and at the "love to" level, you shoot it through the roof.
People ask me how I developed my marketing strategy throughout the world, and I tell them the truth: "Just doing what I love, and loving what I do." Here are your affirmations to achieve the same thing: I do what I love. I love what I do. I love going to work. My work is my play, and my play is my work. My avocation is my vocation, and my vocation is my avocation. I love it!
Say those sentences every day... I dont' mean that you should get elated or infatuated with your work - instead, love it. This means that you embrace both sides of whatever happens each day with equanimity and poise, knowing that everything serves and inspires as a form of feedback toward your desired objective. I take the support, the challenges, the positives, and the negatives equally because I know that I grow from both sides.
Attaining this state of mind where you can truly be inspired by your work and enthused to do it is called, "SELF-ACTUALIZATION" and the Law of Marketing will take you there. I guarantee that it will help you grow professionally, and you'll break through."

The Law of Detail. I've given this a lot of thought for many years and I believe I've come to a place where I can truly visualize how I want Seaplanes in Paradise to look like in 30 years. I think the example that follows regarding the 70 story building and the "lifescraper" really makes a lot of sense. Wish our teachers would have drilled this stuff into our heads when we were younger instead of all those formulas, dates and miscellaneous information that I couldn't begin to recount if my life depended on it.
So, Seaplanes in Paradise will look something like this, God willing... 200 amphibious aircraft worldwide, 80% owned and 20% managed, ranging from single-engine turbine powered amphibious float platforms to multi-engine jet-powered flying boats. Operations will range from part 91 fractional models that are franchised, to on-demand and scheduled services. There will be a humanitarian and medical services "not-for-profit" seaplane service funded by commercial operations to ensure that those in need worldwide have access to critical distribution of food, water and medical supplies. The entire global fleet will dedicate 20% of available flight hours to this endeavor.
In addition, there will be 6 research and development, manufacturing and customer service facilities worldwide - Potential locations include Lake Havasu, Arizona, Lake Como, Italy, Panama City, Panama, Cape Town, South Africa, Singapore, Malaysia, and Brisbane, Australia.
There will be 50 world class maintenance facilities available to ensure efficiency when returning aircraft to service for all operators, both private and commercial. All facilities will be built waterside and within minutes of a suitable land-based aerodrome to ensure the required versatility in terms of environment to ensure adequate testing and calibrations. Seaplane bases and FBO facilities will support all amphibious operations in a manner consistent with the highest quality known to aviation enthusiasts. Locations will include: Hawaii, Seattle, Juneau, Los Angeles, San Diego, Lake Havasu, La Paz, Austin, Chicago, NY, Miami, Key West, Havana, Cancun, Acapulco, Bahamas, Puerto Rico, Turks and Caicos, Virgin Islands, St. Lucia, St. Barths, Margarita Island, Costa Rica, Panama, Cartagena, Rio de Janeiro, Buenos Aires, Montevideo, Santiago, Portugal, Spain, France, Italy, Croatia, Turkey, Greece, Egypt, United Arab Emirates, Mumbai, Madagascar, Seychelles, Mauritius, Phuket, Bali, Tokyo, Manila, Guam, New Zealand, Melbourne, I think that should get us going in the right direction...
Seaplanes in Paradise will grow to be an employee-owned organization with over 7000 souls working together to help operate and produce the very best seaplane adventures on the planet! Oh, yeah, I forgot one important detail. SIP is working on developing and will maintain THE state of the art interactive global reservation system for all seaplane related activities. This will be a one-stop-shop, ready to serve the most discriminating travelers in an ultra-lux manner.
"As I've traveled and taught around the world, I've often observed my students writing down their dreams and goals in very general, unspecified ways. They sometimes make such general statements as "I'd love to have more money." Yet ill-defined wishes such as these seldom help them reach their goals because the words are too vague.
If you'd love to accomplish something in your life, it pays to get specific about the nitty-gritty of your vision. Start with the big picture, and then visualize and write down every detail if you truly desire to manifest such dreams.
For example, let's imagine that I wanted to build a tall building and I have 200 workers at my disposal. I'd tell them, "All right-go build this tall building over there!"
Naturally, they'd ask me, "What exactly do you want us to do?"
"I want a 70-story building," might be my reply, but still needing more information, they'd come back with another question: "Um, do you have the plans?"
Insisting, "No, I don't have any plans. Just go build a 70-story building," wouldn't help, and by now they'd be getting a little perturbed. "We need to have some details! How tall do you want it?"
Saying, "I want it 70 stories, ten feet per story," would be a little more helpful, and they might answer, "Okay, now we're getting somewhere!" but the finer points would still have to be worked out: "What's the floor plan? What does it look like? What's the shape?" In other words, they couldn't construct anything until they had thorough information - and neither can you guild your dreams until you hammer out the details.
When I encourage my students to write down their goals, I hover over them and push them to include more information. When they say that they want a car, I ask, "What color is the interior? How fast is it going to go? What does it look like? What brand is it?" The more they know, the more masterful their creation will be.
When I'd love to create or accomplish something, and I truly honor that dream, I'll take the time to visualize and plan out the details. The one who's able to conquer the details is a master architect, and you're here to build not just a skyscraper, but a "lifescraper." You're here to accomplish something big! It takes no more effort to make something enormous than something small. After all, no one gets up in the morning and says, "Oh, I wish I could be, do, and have nothing." so go for something impressive in life, and remember the details! The Law of Detail is the secret of making your life a masterpiece."

The Law of Reasonable Expectations. This is probably a good topic for everyone consider the real world we're living in. There is a great exhibit currently displayed in Old San Juan - along the Paseo de las Princesas - "Earth from Above" that points to the global challenges we all face and I came across a very interesting article this morning that should inspire all of us to ask some pretty difficult questions regarding the economy and our future as a community...
"The interesting truth is that most of the time you probably put totally unrealistic expectations on yourself (and others)." i.e. The economy is just going to miraculously fix itself without costing everyone significantly.
"For example, you might expect everyone to be nice 24 hours a day, but human nature is to be both nice and mean. Or you might count on being totally successful and never failing, but at least half the time you won't succeed." Huh? " (Keep in mind that Babe Ruth hit the most home runs, but he also had the most strikeouts!)"
"If you look carefully, you'll realize that you probably run around with many illusory fantasies about what you're supposed to be like or do. The truth is, you're a "both-sided" being, as I explained in earlier parts of this book, and the Law of Reasonable Expectation is the ability to allow yourself to have this quality.
Someone once told me, "Well, John, you're somebody who walks your talk. That's why you're successful." Well, if I'm really honest and humble, I realize that I don't always "walk my talk" - in fact, sometimes, I just "limp my life."
Like most teachers, I find that what I share the most emphatically is often what I most need to learn. I realize that if I had the expectation that I was supposed to be this person who was only upbeat, I'd be beating myself up every day because I couldn't live up to that unreasonable expectation.. When I tried to be "Mr. Optimist" all the time and didn't allow myself the down side occasionally (as I described earlier), I was putting myself down because I wasn't allowing myself the healthy skepticism or pessimism required for leading a centered and balanced life.
I believe that the reason some people have diseases is that they have unrealistic expectations about others and themselves. They continue to have misleading dreams about the way they expect life to be, and the world doesn't fit in to their illusions.
The Law of Reasonable Expectations means that you attempt to walk your talk, but you also allow yourself to falter at times. It also means that you can set high expectations for yourself - if they can be realized.
Years ago I was listening to a great motivational speaker. After his talk, I walked up to him and asked, "How do I become an international professional speaker?"
"Start telling people you are," he answered.
I exclaimed, "But I'm not!"
"Tell people you are. Start preempting it," he urged, and I couldn't help arguing again, "But that's not true!"
"So," he repeated, "start telling people it is, until it becomes true."
I let him know that this struck me as a kind of lie, and he just said, "Welcome to the reality of prophecy - of creating things!"
At first, I judged his advice harshly - but I started doing it inwardly anyway. I didn't tell anyone else because I was afraid of their reaction, so I began by saying I'm an international professional speaker to myself.
Then about two weeks later, someone asked me, "What do you do for a living?" and I replied, "I'm an international professional speaker." I was amazed that shortly after this incident, I was asked to give my first international professional speech, and at that point I understood that I needed to allow myself to create my outcomes. I began by distorting my present reality in order to build my future reality.
It seemed weird. I realized that when I didn't always walk my talk - and when I sometimes "limped my life" - my realistic expectations started to materialize, rather than any far-fetched visions I had. I'd awakened my ability to allow myself to be all that I dreamed of being, and it worked.
To begin this process, SCAN YOUR CURRENT LIFE AND THINK OF ALL THE UNREALISTIC EXPECTATIONS THAT YOU HAVE THAT ARE TRULY IMPOSSIBLE - ACTIONS THAT YOU MAY BE EXPECTING OF YOURSELF THAT ARE ONE-SIDED. Now reset them by changing them into reasonable ones, and then go and make them possible.
True possibility thinking isn't fantasy, it's being reality based and acting according to those principles. The Law of Reasonable Expectations is yours for the taking.
I promise you, however, that no matter what you're doing, you're on track. You're being guided and directed through feedback, so that whatever you've done has served. Just know that you're already on your way, and be reasonable with yourself. Permit the true expectation of something doable, and you'll change your life as you watch how your past limping along the path becomes your future walking tall."
This law reminds me a lot of how you have to constantly adjust your sails to reach your destination. You'll have days on the ocean where there is simply no wind and that's ok - In fact, I think zero forward progress on those days allows for amazing performance when you really need to shine...the reality is you just have to be still sometimes - rest, contemplate, and prepare... Sometimes I wonder if the folks running our world ever take the time to look at true possibilities and listen to the feedback that matters most. It's only a matter of time when you put a vessel through storm after storm...when the mast snaps in the middle of the mother of all storms - What possible recourse do you have when you've sailed into the perfect storm?

6/4/09
The Law of Polarity. It's late, 2 am but I'm feeling inspired to share some thoughts on a law that touches upon acceptance of ones' total self, not just the "nice" or "positive" side. I don't think it really matters what you build - One or more businesses, relationships, or a family - Building a legacy that matters and lasts beyond our own existence is sometimes challenging to say the least and could make us wonder if we're not Dr. Jekyll or Mr. Hyde. I've learned that it's best not to beat yourself up too much. Take a break from whatever it is that drives you to extremes. Finding balance is achievable once we're aware and accepting.
"In the past, you've probably bought and read at least one book on positive thinking and attempted to be more upbeat in life - and maybe you've purchased a lot more than just that one." I know I have!
"Did any of them lead you to feel "up" all the time?" If you're interested, you should google "Chronomics" the study of BioRhythms... The following statement points to a never ending compilation of miracles cycling over time... "Animal development is, in fact, nothing but time. From the cell cycle to the beating of the heart, our own lives are composed of a multitude of microscopic and molecular oscillations."
"My journey of positive thinking began when I was 18 years old, and I believe I've read most of the available works in that field. But, even after perusing so many of them, my negativity still persisted sometimes. I'd try to look on the bright side, but somehow I'd find myself feeling like a failure because I couldn't make it work all the time. I'd be down-beat with my wife, kids, or employees; or I'd have an event occur where I'd find myself cursing. Something would happen, I'd get upset, and then I'd beat myself up because of it. Why am I not able to be continually positive? I wondered.
For many years, these books had me convinced that I could (and should) be optimistic, helpful, and enthusiastic at all times. But then I finally woke up and realized that it just wasn't humanly possible. I wasn't designed to be perpetually positive, and this was just another fantasy I'd bought into.
One day about 18 years ago, I was in a standing-room-only crowd at a Unity church listening to one of the make leaders of the positive-thinking movement. He stood up on the stage with his wife and said, "Well, you all probably know me as a leader in the fielf of positive thinking and mental attitude, but I must confess that I'm probably one of the most negative-thinking people you would ever meet." His wife was nodding her head, as if to say, Oh, is that true! He sure has his negative side.
That experience awakened me, and I though, I can be both positive and negative. I don't have to live as a one-sided being. This great speaker went on to explain, "I wrote the books on positive thinking to keep me balanced because I'm so negative at times."
Then I began to realize that as I'd come to know all my mentors more personally, I'd seen that they also had their less optimistic aspects. At that point, I set myself free from the false idea that I had to honor only one side of myself. If you find yourself having both sides (being nice and mean, positive and negative, pleasant and unpleasant), be assured that this polarity is perfectly normal and healthy. You're not messed up - you're gifted!
Embrace all of yourself, because you need both sides: Your humbling negativity brings you back into your true center, and your encouraging positivity moves you forward toward your life's dream.
I remember when I first changed my teaching from all-positive thinking to a balanced and openhearted philosophy: 75 people walked out of the room saying, "We don't want to hear that!" I was frightened and almost unwilling to keep sharing this law, because I was afraid of their reaction, but today I realize that this balance is the truth. Now I'm not worried about anyone walking out. They stay because they realize a new possibility in life: They don't have to be someone they aren't; they can be who they are with a balance of positive and negative thinking.
You can live this truth, too, so apply the Law of Polarity, embracing both sides of yourself and both sides of others. You're magnificent!"

The Law of Contingency. I like to think that this law can be combined with the Law of Adaptability, which will be the featured law very soon. Truth is there are so many things that can happen in any given moment that directly and indirectly affect every plan you have - I think you have to be careful not to spread yourself too thin or get distracted by various options. If you truly believe in what you're trying to accomplish, then you stay the course and go with the flow as necessary, but never take your eye off the target! I believe that this quote by Thoreau says it best. Some of the stuff that happens is simply not of this material world and your path can only be traveled by having faith in something unseen...
"If one advances confidently in the direction of his dreams, and endeavors to live the life which he has imagined, he will meet with a success unexpected in common hours. He will pass an invisible boundary; new, universal, and more liberal laws will begin to establish themselves around and within him; and he will live with the license of a higher order of beings."
"When you're setting out to accomplish something grand in your life, it's wise to create a thoroughly detailed plan, as well as a backup strategy. Detail your desired outcome, describing exactly how you'd love it to be, and then think of everything that could possibly interfere along the journey so that you can be prepared in advance for any potential challenges that may arise.
Not too long ago, I talked with a gentleman who was involved in planning the construction of a city's monorail. He was asked to help formulate necessary contingency plans for any repercussions or other problems that might occur as it was being built. To do this, he traveled along the proposed train route, going to every different company and individual who lived or worked along the line and asking them what they thought could become a problem or could "go wrong" if the monorail was built near their properties, businesses, or homes. He collected all their concerns, doubts, and ideas; considered them; and included each one in his evolving plan in the form of contingency solutions. When the system was built, he had each possible problem, distraction and frustration covered so that no matter what happened, the city planners knew what to do.
This man was following the Law of Contingency, understanding that to act is wise and to react is foolish. Likewise, when you're laying out your plans, be sure you ask yourself, what if this happened - or what if that did? Don't leave anything in doubt, but instead come up with a solution by thinking in advance, What can be done in this situation? Then, if these things do occur, there's no problem: You go to Plan B or Plan C and you're able to keep your cool."
I guess it would be great to have 48 hours in a day as opposed to 24, huh? I have a hard enough time to trying to figure out Plan A!
"This process allows you to get ahead by reducing and eliminating the possibilities that could keep you from your dream.
By following this law, you're more in command, but without it, you're subject to all types of unexpected actions and reactions. Just as with your finances, there's always going to be something unexpected that comes up in your plans, and if you're not prepared for it, you'll react and become upset.
The Law of Contingency reduces stress and factilitates the fulfillment of your objectives. People who plan ahead get ahead, while those who don't have their fail-safes in place are vulnerable to constant stress and usually fall behind. Follow this law and watch how much more smoothly your dreams come true."
If I can continue to create a life that is abundant in so many different ways, while having the opportunity to give back in the ways I've imagined - I'm all ears!

The Law of Speech. The statistics that follow are interesting, but in truth make sense. It seems to me that the more we give to the world around us, the more potential for success and abundance is attracted to ones' life. I think you have to be moved deeply, do your homework, roll up your sleeves and become an expert... I intend to become an inspiring speaker, helping to promote education and solutions to our ever-growing challenges - After all, we are ONE-WORLD living together and should be living in Harmony whenever possible. It seems to me that we are all responsible for the well-being of others - We should all make an effort to help each other live better lives...I read this report and I realize that somehow I have to immerse myself in alternative fuels and solutions for powering the next generation of aircraft engines for starters. Maybe we should ride our bikes more often too, starting today? I do it everyday and it feels good:)
"Do you know that if you master the art of speaking in front of a group (which is one of the most common fears in the world), great things await you? If you can conquer that dread and proclaim the message lying deep within your heart, you can move to the top 20 percent of the world's achievers. Expressing your ideas with clear and concise diction and articulation moves you to the top 4 percent, and the ability to convey information that moves others can propel you to the top one percent. Those who have the courage to stand up and speak out undeniably have an impact on this planet.
You may wonder, How do I learn to speak? I'm afraid to get up in front of a group of people because I might be rejected! I had to overcome this very fear myself, and I was blessed by breaking through it when a gentleman taught me a long time ago that you learn best by doing. He'd tell me, "You learn to play the flute by playing the flute." The same thing is true when it comes to speaking: You learn to speak by simply getting up and presenting your ideas in front of people.
When I started this process, I sometimes stood in front of mirrors and just talked to imaginary audiences. Today, I've finally overcome my fear and can speak to real people, and I do so many times every year. The secret is just getting up and doing it - conquer the fear by taking action.
There's also a very encouraging aspect of the Law of Speaking: You're never in front of an audience you can't handle. As long as you can say, You know, I don't know the answer to that, but I'll do my best to find out," you're covered.
Cultivate the ability to speak out and share what's deep inside your heart. One of the very earliest speeches I ever made was telling my own story: the tale of how I almost died, how that turned my life around, and how I suddenly discovered my mission for life. I related the way I became dedicated to the study of the universal laws as they relate to mind, body and spirit (particularly in relation to healing). I simply got up and described my experience and my inner feelings, and this was the perfect starting point.
You can begin the same way: Just share your heartfelt story with people you love, and you'll begin to move into the higher percentages of life achievers. Forbes magazine once presented a story about people around the world and their levels of wealth. As I was reading it, I realized that my wife and I are right up there with the best of them. I got a tear in my eye, and the thought flashed through my mind: This is due to the power of speaking and the ability to stand up with a message.
Motivational great Zig Ziglar once observed, "You can have everything in life you want if you just help enough other people get what they want." I believe that one of the most powerful ways of inspiring others and helping them get where they want to in life is by sharing a message and a story that inspires them. The power of speech is one of the most effective ways you can accomplish whatever you'd love in life. Every day, make it a point (whether to an invisible audience or a real one) to practice the Law of Speech."
5/22/09
The Law of Truth. I just saw a very powerful movie last night called "Sin Nombre" - A story about real life - raw, unfiltered and simply unbelievable in the "modern" times we live in. I think that it's important to travel and experience everything you possibly can, always striving to step outside your "comfort" box... Then, you see with your own eyes what is real and you can make up your own mind... Be sure to bring a box or two of tissue paper.
"So many common assumptions are just unfounded fantasies! I'm amazed at the number of things people believe that are patently false, such as these:
I'm supposed to be happy all the time.
I shouldn't have any sadness.
I'm supposed to be praised all the time, never criticized.
Many people have these delusions that they're supposed to be in a never-never land of happiness, but by giving this some honest consideration, you can see how foolish they really are. Most folks don't give their assumptions any real scrutiny, though; instead, they just go blithly along with crazy expectations. But no one lives a life like that. The truth is that everyone has happiness, and sadness, and all human beings have niceness and meanness, are pleasant and unpleasant-people have two sides.
If you deny this basic fact, you set yourself up for big crashes and disappointments, as well as depression and feeling like a failure. In fact, I say that the cause of a broken heart is actually a shattered myth or fantasy: Someone expects another person to be a certain way that he or she can't possibly be, and doesn't want him or her to be a complex thing. I like to think of these unwise, one-sided expectations in terms of relating to a magnet: Imagine trying to get a one-sided magnet. If you cut it in half, and then in half again, you'll never get just a positive side. There's always a positive and a negative side, no matter how many times you divide it.
People are magnetic, too - when you try to get one-sided experiences out of them, they give you two. Likewise, if you try to get just a narrow experience out of life, you'll always be given the whole thing anyway. Going along expecting what isn't possible, getting frustrated when it doesn't happen, and trying to change everything to a one-sided experience will be futile. This is just a way to upset yourself because you can't do the impossible.
When I work with people who are depressed, I find that their disorder is often rooted in the fact that what they think is possible, actually isn't and they're being hard on themselves because they think that it's their fault. As the Buddha said, the desire for that which isn't attainable is the source of human suffering. People quite often compare what is to something that isn't possible, and then put themselves down because they can't match this false idea, blaming themselves because they can't do the impossible. They sometimes chastise others who meet defeat as well.
Dissolve the fantasies and open yourself to the truth, which has two sides. Embrace both: You require support and challenge, positive and negative, and cooperation and conflict to have fulfillment in life. I encourage you to no longer berate yourself or others, because you and they can't live one-sided lives. Begin being grateful that both sides of life enable you to grow in love."
Life is like the river below... Perspective is everything.

The Law of Application. I think this is probably my favorite of all the laws in this book - Have I said that before? It's possible. In this case, I think it's because I love to hear true stories of those who have had faith to dream big without limitations, press on thru what others might consider hard or altogether impossible times all the while holding on to their visions of what they feel is possible. I do believe that you never give up on those things that move you!
"About 15 years ago, I was presenting a seminar in Houston called "The Breakthrough Experience." A gentleman in his 70's was there and he stood up on the second day and asked if he could make a brief presentation to the small, prviate group of about 15 people. We all agreed, and he began, "I'd love to share a story about how important it is to follow these laws that you teach. Forty years ago I was attending a seminar with a group of people just like this one, except the instructor was Napoleon Hill."
Most of us knew that Napoleon Hill was one of the legendary teachers of personal success, so we were excited to hear from someone who'd seen the master at work. Most of the students in my classes - and many of the most successful people in the world - have read his books and been inspired by his teachings.
The gentleman continued, "Dr. Demartini, what you teach is very similar to Naploeon Hill's wisdom. I'd like to share with you the story of what he did for me. Four decades ago he asked the class I was in to write down our mission statements, our chief aims in lief. We were also to write our goals and our auto-suggestion affirmations. At that time, I wrote on a little piece of paper the dreams that I had for my life, and my chief goals.
He pulled a yellow, taped-up piece of paper from his wallet and read the contents to us: "I'm to be a multi-millionaire. I'm to have a big mansion in Houston, Texas. I'm to be the headmaster of my former university. I'm to have a luxurious Mercedes. I'm to have a wonderful, huge corporation employing lots and lots of people. I'd love to have a beautiful wife. I'd love to have two children."
He went down this list of all the dreams he'd love, and as he was speaking, a tear came to his eyes, and he said to the group, "Every one of these things have come true. I have that beautiful home. I have that beautiful wife. I have those two gorgeous children. I became headmaster of my former university. I've had that huge corporation. I have that beautiful car. Everything on that list has come true." And then he continued, "And today, it's so appropriate that I'm here - because the final thing on that list, the thing that I've always wanted to create, was a book on how to turn mom-and-pop operations into major corporations."
He reached down into his briefcase, and he pulled out the completed manuscript of his new book. He told us, "The reason I wanted to sign up today is to let you know that it's great to be able to accomplish these goals, but what's more significant to me is that I'm sitting down today and writing the script for my next 40 years! As Napoleon Hill taught me, and as Dr. Demartini is teaching you now, don't underestimate the power of these laws. Apply them, and the life that you dream about will be yours."
Mont St. Michel is an amazing monestary, surrounded by one of the most beautiful countrysides I've ever had the pleasure of driving through. The point is this. I can't imagine ever building something like this historical landmark or anything that will endure without first being an architect in your mind, following the blueprint that originates somewhere between your heart and soul. I'm not sure where all the inspiration comes from for my list, but it's a long one! One of them has always been to travel the world with my brother taking beautiful pictures for as long as we should be blessed to live...to share with everyone as an inspiration to live, love and pursue their own fantastic journeys... I think you'll enjoy this link. As you'll notice, they didn't exactly have the perfect piece of real estate to work with...or was it?

The Law of Reflection. After you think about this law, you'll never look at another human being the same way, whether it's your business, family, friends or the next joe or jane walking down the street. I think these laws are very humbling and quite frankly they can set you free - help you lose a lot of otherwise worthless baggage. I think that as we all reflect more and more on these thoughts and their implications as a collective whole, we'll continue to see a more abundant world evolve. I guess it's really all up to us, as individuals to realize that we all need to contribute consciously so that society and this world can continue to serve in the spirit of love...
"Years ago I began to pay close attention to what I was saying to others and what I was seeing in them. I noticed that what I said, especially in teaching, was really also meant for me, and that what I saw was a reflection of me. If I were in a particular mood, I noticed that other people were, surprisingly, also in that mood. Yet I wasn't influencing them; it was just that in observing, I was more inclined to notice a mirror of myself than anything else.
One day I went through the large Webster's dictionary and took an inventory of all the possible traits a human being could have. I circled them, and over a period of months, I went through every single one and asked myself, Where do I have that trait?
This was one of the most revealing experiences of my lief because it made me realize that I had every single attribute. I looked at nice characteristics, along with mean, honest, and deceiving ones; as well as times when I was friendly or not, when I'd tried to get something for nothing. It amazed me to find all of them in myself, because I had a tendency to want to only see the good. Yet with honest self-examination, I found that I had both the positive and negative - which were ultimately neither.
I also realized that every faced helped others and me: Sometimes when I wasn't so nice (or was even mean), the person would come back and tell me, "Thank You! You know, when you acted that way, you really made me thing and reflect, and I decided to shift my life because of it." In this way, I found that some of the things that I didn't like about myself were actually serving others, and finally acknowledging this fact was one of the most liberating experiences of my life. Freedom from fear and guilt is priceless.
I like to think of myself now as both virtuous and vicious, saint and sinner, nice and mean, arrogant and humble, generous and selfish, postive and negative. I embrace both my light and shadow sides, and I encourage you to do the same. After all, you can't run away from half of yourself. You'll never find fulfillment trying to do so, but will only reach 'half-fillment'
The truth is that you have both sides, just like me, and you don't have to run from that awareness. You're still worthy of love, because every part of you contributes to the world. Every day, say to yourself, No matter what I have done or not done, I am worthy of love. No matter what I have done or not done, I have still served. By doing this, you'll shift your life, and you won't have to carry around so much baggage of fear or guilt.
Understand that this isn't an excuse for you to gloat, 'Well, I can get away with doing anything!' That isn't the point. You already act in a variety of ways, and all you can do is change the form of your traits to work more efficiently according to your evolving values. If you think, I'm not going to be mean anymore, your meanness will just change its form. you may become spiteful at work, bad-tempered with your children, or harsh to yourself. Somehow, you have every trait - and always will. They stay with you for life, so love them all and let them serve you and the planet.
The Law of Reflection makes you realize that you have whatever qualities you see in others; they're just manifested uniquely within you according to your own values. If you understand that, then there's nothing to condemn about anyone else, and you're free of self-righteousness. Being judgmental isn't going to make you feel loved, but learning how how to reflect and find in yourself what you see around you will open the door to your heart and allow more love into your life."
If only it was easy to peel back all the layers...

The Law of Caring. Ok, so here I am building on established relationships and creating new ones with a growing appetite for abundance in my personal life as well as my professional endeavors, and always focusing on win-win opportunities - I know some will say that you can't have a win-win and still have control over the outcome in business, but I for one choose to do business and nurture my relationships with this law in mind. I firmly believe that you can realize positive outcomes if you commit yourself to understanding the perspectives and serving the needs of others, and at the same time satisfy your own. Our lives and that includes business is a give and take after all.
"Most likely there's someone you care about deeply, but sometimes your idea of trying to show your devotion is misinterpreted. Maybe you've done something that you consider loving (such as giving flowers), but the other person has questioned your intentions or wondered about an ulterior motive. The Law of Caring provides some wonderful guidelines for giving and loving in ways that are difficult to misunderstand.
First, let's start with a definition of caring; It's the ability to honor another individual deeply enough to know what their principles are and convey your beliefs in terms of theirs. In other words, you'd be wise to communicate with regard for your loved one's highest values - whatever is most important and valuable to them.
The following story illustrates this idea: A married man once sent his wife to me for a consultation because he felt that she needed to change her ways. In his mind, she was wrong in some of her views and manners. Although I normally prefer to work with the person who desires the change, in this case the husband wasn't receptive or available. So I met with his wife, and we spent te day working on his objective. Yet I didn't try to change her - instead, I spent the day teaching her how to communicate her needs and priorities in terms of his. I had her write down all his highest values, which included golf, business success, making money, looking good, driving fast cars, and spending time with friends. The she listed hers; time with her children, seeing her family, looking good, fixing up the home, and so on. When she finished, I had her role play her communications with him, and she practiced conveying what was most important to her in terms of what mattered to him.
When she returned home, their whole relationship shifted. In fact, I received a thank-you letter from the husband, saying, "Whatever you did with my wife, it truly made a difference!" What I really did was spend the whole day showing her how to get whatever she wanted from him - and he was thanking me.
She learned and reflected, and then honored him enough to know what his values were. She began to think out in advance (before she spoke) how to communiate her desires in terms of his priorities. For example, when she wanted to go overseas to visit her mom in Europe, she put it this way: "Honey, I believe that right now there's a sale on in Europe, so if I went over there, the amount I could save getting discounts would cover the cost. It wouldn't even cost us anything (his value of conserving money). And I know that you have a very busy golf tournament coming up. This way you could be left alone and really have an enjoyable time with your buddies (his value of golf and spending time with his friends), and I could get the shopping done - and save at the same time." She communicated in terms of his values so that she could fulfill her own.
Just as there's an art of communication, there's an art of caring, and when you follow it, you'll receive more of what you want. You'll get more out of your relationships and be able to experience the true love that you've desired. The Law of Caring works, so communicate your values in terms of those of the ones you cherish, and just watch what happens."
Figure I should throw in a picture of my daughter all grown up... Keep your eyes peeled. I'm going to see if I can't convince her to come work in Paradise.

The Law of Mind-Body. This one has all of the right stuff to keep you going strong. Let's face it, without a balanced mind-body connection, you literally won't be able to handle things when they seem close to getting out of hand. Looking back, I realize how blessed I've been to be able to keep it together when most would just certainly check out mentally, physically, or emotionally. I'm not better than anyone else, just built differently somehow. I feel that I'm very conscious and aware of the world around me, while able to focus on my thoughts and what they mean on my journey everyday...
"You've almost certainly heard and read about the idea that the mind and body are interconnected. When I first began studying healing processes more than 30 years ago, certain factions in the medical community were debating whether the mind and psychology had really anything at all to do with the body and healing. And at the time that I was 18 years old and just beginning to learn about psychosomatic illnesses, there were only a handful of diseases that came under that course of study. Today, however, there are more than 100 different physical conditions known to be influenced by the mind, and psychoneuroimmunology is a huge field now. There's no way to deny anymore that your mind and body are related.
It's my experience that if you have an imbalanced perspective on life and are infatuated, resentful, elated, or depressed about some event, it's impossible to be in that emotional state without also having a physiological reaction and response to it. In fact, if someone were to tell you that a stove is oht, and you then put your hand on it, your nerves would probably prepare to burn. In some studies, it's been shown that if subjects are blindfolded and told that they're going to hold a hot poker, but instead an ice cube is placed in their hands, most people actually burn and create a blister from the expectation of heat alone.
Your perceptions affect your body, and if you have imbalanced perceptions, you'll have a physical over- or underreaction, which creates disease. Your entire being responds to emotions: Garbage in, garbage out; balance in, wellness out.
If you have emotions of fear (focusing on the future events) and guilt (focusing on past events) - you may produce disease. That's the beauty and magnificence of nature: It does whatever it can to teach you where you're off-kilter by giving you feedback with each sign and symptom. These clues show where you're misunderstanding equilibrium and seeing incongruity. Disease isn't terrible; it's an essential guide, for the mind-body connection works so that you can grow in gratitude and love - the two greatest wellness promoters in life. You can't find anything more powerful than that.
The body and mind are inseparable in their interactions. Keep this in the forefront of your thinking whenever you perceive a troubling sign or symptom, and look inside yourself rather than blaming something outside. Be accountable and see what in your psychology may be affecting you. If you change your perceptions and bring yourself to balance, gratitude and love, your body takes care of itself in accordance with the Law of Mind-Body."
Remember that little girl earlier on in the story? That's my daughter, Tiffany flying with us a few years back. Looks pretty comfortable, doesn't she?

The Law of Equilibrium. It's raining here in San Juan today. Quiet weekend as I work on a proposal for a local resort opening later this year. Quite a few 5 star properties opening in the next 12-18 months. The Convention Center is moving right along and the Pier development project in Old San Juan is really taking off too. Exciting times for Puerto Rico, and probably just in time as competing islands continue to flourish in the tourism market. I've always been fascinated by the balance in life or the equilibrium that seems to exist in all things. Seems to me that every time we got off balance, that's when the S*#( hits the fan. It's a challenge for all of us, especially in this advanced society we live in where everything moves along at the speed of light.
"Many centuries ago, a great philosopher said that the will of God is equilibrium. In ancient spiritual writings, it's shown that those who are proud will be lowered, and the humble will be exalted-mountains will eventually be eroded and leveled, and valleys filled. This is the law of Equilibrium, and it holds true in every aspect of your life.
Consider the most traumatic and terrible events you've experienced, perhaps when someone criticized you or when you had excruciating pain, and ask yourself, Exactly at that moment when someone was putting me down, who was lifting me up? At the precise time that someone was criticizing me, who was praising me? At the second something terrible was occurring, where was something terrific taking place? If you look carefully, you'll see that the law of Equilibrium held true, and that one-sided events are illusions or selective attention.
At the exact point when you have your peak experience, there's also a trough, but this isn't meant to discourage you, as you may first think. Rather, this law can inspire you and keep you centered and present within your heart. You're no here to get elated, depressed, proud, humiliated, manic, depressed, infatuated, or resentful. Instead, it's your purpose to live in equilibrium and be poised, gracious, loving and grateful for life.
The Law of Equilibrium is another expression of the Law of Gratitude, for when you possess perfectly balanced emotions and perspective, it's impossible not to be grateful and filled with true love as you see harmony and embrace both sides of your life. The greatest discovery of the human experience is that no matter what happens, it will always even out for all events come in pairs of opposites. You don't-and can't-cause or prevent this; It simply is, praise and reprimand, peace and war, positive and negative, support and challenge, attraction and repulsion.
Nature always provides experiences that reveal your heart and soul's mission and purpose. Since the Law of Equilibrium is one of the greatest spiritual principles, make sure that you see it as part of your life. Rather than limiting yourself to a selectively exclusive attention to either the terrible or terrific, keep an eye open for both sides of every event, for all things are neutral until you judge them not to be - they're simply messages of love."
I love this shot of the confluence of the little colorado river and the might colorado river... Sort of drives the message home - Even at the bottom of the Grand Canyon there exist these perfectly balanced currents. I've flown tours over the river many times, but it's one thing to see it from the top and totally awe-inspiring to be in it! I guess that's how life is. Gotta love it!

The Law of Visualization. The internet works wonders for this daily exercise. You create your life, so why not visualize the very best and keep heading in that direction, even if you take baby steps. I believe you can overcome just about every challenge that you might meet up with along the way. This is one of my favorite quotes by Michael Jordan, "Obstacles don't have to stop you. If you run into a wall, don't turn around and give up. Figure out how to climb it, go through it, or work around it."
"About 15 years ago, as I was walking through the Galleria shopping mall in Houston, I entered the American Express service center and requested a copy of every brochure they had. The travel agent looked up at me and asked, "Every brochure? Can't you be more specific, sir? Do you have a particular destination in mind?"
I answered, "No, I want to see every one you've got. I'm going to lunch, and I'll be back in about 45 minutes. If you could have every brochure your company has ever produced all together for me, I'd really appreciate it."
When I came back, she had almost a solid foot and a half of stacked brochures waiting for me. I brought my dolly cart and wheeled the whole pile over a skywalk to my private office in an adjacent building. Once there, I cut out every picture of all the sights I'd love to see around the world: extraordinary and beautiful places, from Egyptian pyramids to the Tibetan palace to the Great Wall of China - from the Eiffel Tower to the Acropolis to the Vatican!
I put all these pictures in a folder, and every day at the office, I'd take a few moments and look through them all-hundreds of photos of places I'd love to visit. I disciplined myself to visualize being there, and in the 15 years since this occurred, about 65 percent of those destinations have materialized in my life. Mysteriously, someone called me from Rome to say, "Dr. Demartini, we'd love for you to come do a program here," and I was able to visit the Vatican! Someone else contacted me to ask, "Can you take us on a trip to Egypt?" I put together a book on Egyptology just to study it so that I could go to that country, and sure enough, I got paid to tour all the ruins of the ancient pyramids and temples.
Of all the places in my life that I visualized, beginning with just a picture, 65 percent of them have been completed. I've been to, spoken at, or somehow become involved in and visited the sites I've visualized. One is a beautiful Greek-inspired piece of architecture outside the San Francisco area. I got the request, "Can you speak at our wedding?" and there I was, working in that magnificent location.
I have no explanation other than the power of visualizing where you want to be (and how you'd like to get there), which makes a huge difference. A friend of mine in a large multi-level organization told me that he was taught to envision his dreams-his ideal house, car, and life. Over the course of five years, I watched this gentleman go from barely making ends meet to being at the top of his company and achieving each of those goals. The power of visualization is astounding and will lead you to an amazing life.
Every day I spend at least a few moments picturing my outcomes. I imagine myself out in space looking at the earth, and I ask myself, Where would I love to go? How would I love my life to be?
Imagine yourself from a celestial perspective looking terrestrially. If you do so, and visualize your journey the way you'd love it to be, then your life will turn out that way. This process is one of the key elements in creating your extraordinary destiny, so apply the Law of Visualization every day. Watch your dreams come into being as you mold your life the way you've dreamed."
I know where I want to be. I want to fly, manage, and build seaplanes for those who can visualize the greatest adventures on the planet - Every corner of it!

I'm taking a break from the Laws of the universe for a day at least. I'm reading a great new book. "Life Entrepreneurs" by Christopher Gergen and Gregg Vanourek. The more I chip away at this Blog, I realize I'm doing this not only for my own sanity, but also to give anyone interested in knowing more - what it takes to build an empire from scratch. Bare bones, blood, sweat, tears, and faith in what your heart feels - never forgetting what your purpose is... while tuning into subtle little details that you can pick up on if you're listening - one day at a time. Looking back on over 30 years of developing my entrepreneurial spirit, I really think the next bullets make a lot of sense.
- "All of the Entrepreneurs we interviewed made a conscious decision to walk their own path and forge their own future - often going against prevailing expectations.
- There was a direct correlation between the purposefulness and conviction with which they walk their path in life and the passion and joy they feel for their life and work.
- Many of them don't think of themselves as dividing their time between "work" and "life." For many, these are integrated, not compartmentalized, pursuits. They are creating, owning and taking responsibility for every facet of their lives with an integrated approach.
- Their dispositions toward risk were all over the map - ranging from those who were somewhat risk-averse to a few intrepid "risk junkies." But they were ALL willing to take measured risks in pursuit of a worthy project or goal. They saw risk as an inherent part of life and took steps to mitigate it through thoughtful planning and disciplined execution.
- All of them have experienced failure and dealt with significant setbacks. Many have encountered life-changing episodes of tragedy, illness, loss, financial difficulty, and more.
- Several found great value is stepping off the path to renew, recharge, and sometimes reinvent their lives, discovering that periods of activity and achievement must be counterbalanced with periods of rest and regrouping.
- Their life path was usually a winding one, not linear. In most cases, it made much more sense looking backward. As they moved forward, they were both shaping the future and responding to it.
- Most of them came to the conclusion that it's not all about them - far from it. They have cultivated healthy support systems, and many have become deeply connected, civic-minded leaders."
I could see myself recharging myself here for a while. So many amazing places to plug into for a while!

The Law of Refinement. This one goes for Seaplanes in Paradise on a corporate level and for me on a personal level... Semana Santa here in Puerto Rico. I remember visiting Puerto Rico for the first time 15 years ago during this week with my daughter. We spent an amazing 10 days between San Juan and Combate on the southwest side of the island and I absolutely fell in love with the people, the sights, sounds, you name it... That trip solidified what I wanted to see in my future. Slowly, but surely I've dreamed up a much bigger picture for what I envision for Seaplanes in Paradise. This portal will become THE one-stop shop for booking seaplane adventures worldwide. It doesn't matter if you're heading to the Maldives, or as remote as Fiji... We'll be there to provide concierge service for the most discriminating elite/adventure travelers. That being said, I'm excited to know that the internet is such a powerful tool for facilitating expeditious and reliable business transactions. I will continue to refine my approach and investments in such a manner that I can offer the most beneficial services to my clients. I know what it's like to travel worry-free, knowing that all of the details have been handled by a competent, responsible group of individuals who address my needs as if they were their own.
"Some of the earliest mediums of economic exchange were heads of cattle; in fact, the word capital comes from that -capitat "heads of cattle." However, if you were out of fair exchange in those early days and you owed "money" to someone, the animals were large and difficult to divide and use as pay. To offer a reasonable barter, using half a cow, or a quarter (unless you were a butcher in the meat market) posed a significant challenge and was cumbersome, to say the least. Little by little, economic challenge became refined, evolving into coins, paper, plastic, and eventually an electronic medium. Now money exchange has become expressed in the most efficient form yet, and sophisticated economic transactions are completed at the speed of light.
Likewise, your individual personal development and financial management go through refinement as you mature, so if you have a dream and a mission for life that's boiling inside and that you'd love to fulfill, it's wise to write it down. You'll begin with a general written mission statement, but after you reread, review, and rewrite it periodically - just as in economics -you'll finally refine your statement of purpose into a masterpiece.
I encourage you to take time everyday to look at your dreams, mission statement, and values, and constantly refine them so that you can become enlightened. With this process, you make a commitment to yourself. I am here to become a master of refinement. Every day, in every way, I am becoming more refined. Through this alchemy, the raw metal of your being becomes the refined gold of achievement and mastery. Follow the Law of Refinement and watch the transformation begin."
Old San Juan is a powerful magnet for locals and visitors alike... Seaplanes in Paradise will broker flights from the port to various island destinations in the near future. Stay tuned.

The Law of Growth. This one goes right to the heart of Life being a journey and depending on the depths of discovery you seek, I guess everything is relative. Somehow the biggest gains are only realized by those who are willing to practice non-attachment - to people, outcomes, and material possessions - Catch 22, huh? I'm coming to realize that in order to realize great success, you must be willing to understand that everything in life is temporary and yet expanding because of OUR collective efforts... and it's definitely one thing to talk the talk and it's another to actually live it.
"I think of life as a tree; As a tree grows, its little green sprigs reach out to get as much of the sun as they can, to acquire greater respiration and life. The branches that don't aggressively push themselves toward the sun become shaded over, and they eventually die and fall off.
As you grow, you may shed "leaves," as well: friends, acquaintances, and colleagues. And you'll build new friendships as you drop the old ones all along your journey of life. Yet you may be afraid to discard your past, and instead hold on to those around you, when you really need to let go and move on.
Those who start out "in sync" - sharing the same level of ambition or having common goals and interests - may find that they've diverged sometime later on. We all have plateaus in life when it's best to stay put, just as we all have periods of intense drive and focus. It's important to recognize when you've fallen out of sync with someone. If you want to expand and go further in life, you may have to leave behind some of those less ambitious people who aren't willing to continue to grow - at least not in the direction that you desire to. It's wise to associate with individuals you resonate with, those who are where you'd love to be.
Sometimes people let their fears block progress and imagine that they're going to lose their best friends. But do you hang out with all the same people who went to elementary school with you? Probably not. What about high school and college buddies? Even here, I'm guessing it's very few, if any. How about co-workers from your first job? You get the point. As you think back, you'll see that you've shed many people throughout your life, so don't be afraid to do this. It isn't necessarily putting people down, but simply allowing yourself to grow.
If you're having difficulty letting go of a relationship, remember you may greatly honor yourself and the other person by allowing both of you to evolve. You don't serve the world by shrinking, but by shining and allowing others to have their freedom - as you set yourself free by developing and becoming the person you're truly capable of being. By doing this, you give others permission to do the same.
Be willing to let go and thrive. As long as you're green, you're growing, but as soon as you're ripe, you'll rot so allow the Law of Growth to rule your life. Let yourself shed your leaves and sprout new ones. You may have to rake occasionally, but with every spring comes a new surge of glorious growth."
I took this picture at the bottom of the Grand Canyon - Phantom's Ranch... SIMPLY AMAZING! Who said there wasn't any sign of the change of seasons in the desert?

The Law of Wellness. As I read through these Laws, explained by Dr. DeMartini I realize how completely balanced his approach is to living an amazing life. I wonder how it is that our society can avoid the topic of wellness so much when it seems to be such an important foundation for any level of success, whether it's personal, family oriented or corporate in nature. I value my wellness as a pillar of strength, a gift that is priceless when I consider my many dreams and the legacy that I wish to create during my lifetime. I try my best to educate myself and condition my body to be as strong, flexible and well as possible, so that I can keep exploring and playing with the best of 'em...
"Most people live with a myth-the myth of health. Let me explain: I differentiate between wellness and health. Every single day within your body, cells are dying and cells are being born. Your skin, intestinal, and lung cells are changing constantly, and the other cells of your body are turning over on a regular basis. In other words, you literally become a new person as days go by, since your body is constantly evolving. It's both destructive and constructive, and all transformation depends upon this cycle.
Most people think, Well, I just want to be healthy, and I don't want any disease or death. The reality is that you experience both life and death all along your earthly journey. Throughout your life, you're made of cells that are sick and dying, as well as ones that are being born and growing. Wellness is embracing both sides of that-health is just one aspect, but most people are infatuated with it and are resentful of disease. Whenever they have any sign of illness, they beat themselves up and think that there's something wrong with them.
You don't want to be in a fantasy that you'll be healthy all your life and experience nothing else. If you're infatuated with that, then when your later years (or whenever the body begins to accelerate its breakdown), you'll resent yourself for undergoing such a natural process. I say embrace both health and disease, and wellness is yours." I realize this is easier said than done!
"That doesn't mean that you should ignore any efforts to help maintain your body's optimal evolvement-you should absolutely eat, drink, and exercise well. What I am saying is this: Do more than just accept the inevitabilities of life; embrace both the building and the destroying. You're constantly remodeling and re-creating yourself, like a large city always under some construction. A part of you catabolizes and breaks things down, and another part anabolizes and builds things up, and thus you achieve metabolic equilibrium, which needs both sides. A wellness program isn't enamored with one and resentful of the other, but welcomes both.
Be grateful for your physical self and whatever it does for you, as ultimately it's teaching you how to love. Every sign and symptom is just trying to impart this one lesson. Love both sides of your wellness."
I've learned that, finding balance is key, while focusing on love and appreciation for all that is in the present moment. That's if I had to sum it all up in one sentence.
Here's a picture I took in Guanajuanto, Mexico. A favorite colonial city. This particular property is where a great friend got married. I flew all the way from Greece to get there just in time, but it was worth it. The woman of my dreams should be comfortable with a Mexican wedding:) FUN!

The Law of Wealth Appreciation. Thinking about this one a lot these days. I am so grateful to have a clear mission for Seaplanes in Paradise serving clients worldwide. I believe that my dedication to developing under-served or altogether non-existent markets, superior service and personal accessability will continue to provide the foundation for increasing levels of wealth, not just for my immediate family, but for our entire global community.
"After interviewing and consulting hundreds of individuals with varying degrees of wealth, I've found that those who recognize what money represents and what it can do - those who appreciate the ability to manage or receive and give wisely - are those who build wealth. I've also talked with people who have very little income or wealth, and they say, "Well, I'm really not in it for the money. Money isn't important to me. That's not why I do what I do. If I make some cash, great, and if I don't, I'll do this anyway."
The people who have wealth are those who're able to say, "I have a cause for it. I know how to manage it. I desire to build wealth. I have something significant to do with it. They appreciate and value their opportunity to build wealth and their ability to use money for fair exchange. They discuss it, study it, and put some energy into it. They know that they're responsible for what they do with it, and they love that responsibility.
If you don't fully embrace the ideas of saving, spending, managing, and dealing with money wisely, or acknowledge what it can do and how it can serve people, then don't expect to have much wealth in your life. One of the most important things you can do, if you expect to have any prosperity at all, is to learn to appreciate what it can offer. In strong hands, it can be used for powerful purposes - for positive or negative effects. Wealth itself is neutral until someone employs it and projects a valued intention onto it.
Here's a great way to enhance your wealth appreciation - and therefore, your abundance potential. Sit down and write 100 benefits outlining how money coming into your hands could help you and the world. Then write another 100 things that you can do with it. If you don't know how you're going to use it, why would it come to you? Be thankful for a wealthy life. Appreciate the opportunity to manage wealth, and watch it appreciate in your hands. The Law of Wealth Appreciation can build you a lasting fortune."

The Law of Stability. I think we can all relate to this one. The current economic state we're all experiencing makes it very clear that in order to prosper and be acutely aware of the world around us, we must reach a state of personal stability. I think it's critical to being able to visualize the business opportunities that abound in a world of constant change.
"No doubt you've become highly agitated at times, and you may have even considered yourself to be an emotional basket case during some moments. Other times, you've been quite stoic and stern, more cognitive and intellectual, and didn't waver easily. Halfway between those two extremes is what I call the center point underlying the Law of Stability.
Many times in a marriage or long-term relationship, one spouse or partner will play the cognitive role, while the other is the connotive. The cognitive person thinks things through without considering his or her emotions. The connotive one doesn't rely on thinking, but simply feels everything and bounces around like a Ping-Pong ball. Stability is where these forces of thought and feeling, of mind and heart, come together and are united. When you're in such a balanced state, you have equilibrium of all these aspects and are neither elated nor depressed; you're centered with love.
Stability is demonstrated when you have a clear mission - a focused vision and plan of action - certainty about where you're going, and caring feelings that inspire you as you align yourself with what's most purposeful. You're not simply a cognitive intellectual, nor are you emotionally incapacitated. You're in balance and feel harmony with all creation, doing what you love and loving what you do. This is called stability.
Anything that isn't centered attracts something that brings it to that point. Therefore, you grow in your stability as you mature. In fact, becoming mature is stability. If you have frequent emotional ups and downs, don't be surprised if a plethora of stoic people turn up in your life as times goes by. They're simply there to teach you how to bring yourself to equilibrium.
The art of living by this law involves the willingness to embrace both sides of yourself and enter your heart. Bring heart and mind into every action of your life and watch what happens: You'll attract different relationships, wealth, and opportunities, and train your spirit in gratitude. The secret of this law is the centered union of both mind and heart-by balancing them, you apply the Law of Stability."
Nobody said it would be easy:)

The Law of Pride and Humility. As I research the world economy and specifically the aviation industry more everyday, I realize that we're all in for a challenging road ahead. I believe that there are so many great opportunities moving forward, once you get past all the mumbo-jumbo in the news. It would be so nice if there wasn't so much static - if everyone started working together instead of trying to look out for #1 only. Is there one true story that we could all adhere to and work collectively to correct? I believe there is, but we're all culturally segmented to some extent and then we have our own personal details to tend to...all of which makes the balancing act a bit complicated... Good thing God put certain checks and balances into the equation...
"If you allow yourself to get cocky and begin to think that you're better or more successful than you really are, then you automatically draw forces to bring you back into equilibrium. When you get overconfident, you attract challenges, humbling circumstances, and low priorities. In a sense, the universe is designed to keep you in balance and rooted in your heart. Anytime you become overexcited or manic, something arrives to calm you down.
On the other side of the coin, if you get blue, depressed, or frustrated; beat yourself up; or think that you're less than you truly are, then someone usually comes along and supports you. They make you laugh and build you up with pride, saying, Hey! You're better than that!" They bring you back to equilibrium and get you realigned with high priorities.
You're here to be true to yourself in balance. Nature works on your behalf with positive and negative feedback to help you hone in on - and keep your heart open to - LOVE. The world ever pushes you to do what you love and love what you do.
Maybe you've tried to (or wished that you could) stay positive and be "up" all the time. I spent years attempting this - to be a one-sided magnet - but I didn't find that approach to be most productive in the long run, as I discovered how well the Law of Pride and Humility really works.
Public optimists often become private pessimists, downloading their negativity onto the people they love most in order to look good out in public. The secret is not to get elated or depressed, because if you allow yourself to become too high up, you'll find yourself too far down. Eminent psychologist Abraham Maslow said that self-actualization is a synthesis, a perfect blend of both pride and humility.
Those who are self-actualized - who are masters, going places, and doing what they love and loving what they do - are the ones who know how to bring these two sides of themselves together and don't permit themselves to get too high or too low. Financial wizard Warren Buffett warns that you'll never manage your wealth until you manage your emotions. I can add to that: You won't manage your life until you manage your emotions. Stay focused and centered in your journey, and follow the Law of Pride and Humility all the way to your heart and dreams."
The fort system in Old San Juan is pretty amazing! How simple life must have been back then, between attacks that is...

The Law of Delegation. I am interested in becoming the most successful entrepreneur I can possibly be, and so this particular law is very clear to me, both as an opportunity to recognize that I can't possibly do everything in the world, and also to realize that I have a responsibility to others to help them grow and become the responsible leaders that they envision. This law does indeed apply to everyone, "including parents who are in the business of managing a loving, active home: You grow in your business only as much as you can delegate."
"One of the secrets of building an organization or company is to make sure that you give away the actions you're not perfectly designed and inspired to do to others who are.
Learn to give people just enough of a challenge so that they're inspired and pushed to new levels, but not so much that they're overwhelmed or burned out.
When you're implementing this law, make sure that you train your employees, trust them, and release it to them. Give them the opportunity to learn from trial and error, and don't forget to prioritize tasks so that they know what's most important. People who prioritize and do the ABC's before the XYZ's are the ones who grow the most.
Give each item to the person best equipped to do it. Don't make anyone under or overdo.
In addition, give your employees just enough actions so that they experience a bit of urgency. A mom-and-pop operation can never grow into a major enterprise without these principles, nor can any other organization expand beyond its' current level. The Law of Delegation will take you much further than you could ever go on your own."
I dream of reaching destinations like this by seaplane, providing VIP transfers and supply services for those adventurers ready for a day excursion like no other, while those who manage ops best are on top of things back in the office!

The Law of Congruency. Just finished reading this amazing book on the form of love - A scientific look at crystals of water and the effect that our thoughts and emotions have on those frozen crystals, on our bodies and those things around us, extending outward like a pepple in a pond... If I understand the message correctly, our purpose is really simple. To love who we are, those people and things that surround us, and to love those people and things that we can't see as well... while being grateful for everything as it is in the present moment. The message seems to coincide with this law. Talk about timing!
"If I'm speaking from my mind with only an intellectual perspective, it seems as if something's missing, or incongruent. But when I speak from my heart, everything seems to flow easily. Likewise, when you share something from deep inside that's truly inspiring to you, your life becomes harmonious.
When your head and your heart aren't in sync, not only does your body create disease, but your life also manifests a lack of ease. Conversely the secret of having a congruent life - one where your actions, thoughts, and feelings work together to create a sense of effortlessness - is to make sure that you speak from your heart.
Feelings travel through barriers that thoughts alone can't penetrate, and your emotions have a power in themselves. For instance, if you say something in monotone, it doesn't mean the same thing as it does when you put inflection into your voice, which allows a deeper meaning to surface.
I believe that there are four magical feelings: gratitude, love, inspiration, and enthusiasm. When those congruent states come across in whatever you're doing and saying, they attract people and opportunities to you. In these states, not only are your mind and physical self connected, but every cell in your body harmonizes, resonates, and magnetically draws to you the things you hold in your innermost dominant thoughts.
If you're in an imbalanced or stressful state, return to your heart, balance your perceptions, and share what you'd truly love to. People who are able to speak out and communicate a mission and a message congruently rule the world. You have the capacity to rule your life - and possibly the world to come - simply by opening your heart and sharing through the Law of Congruency."

The Law of Knowing. Funny thing. I'm sitting here in Paradise and realize that things are getting pretty tough for everyone. The amazing thing is that I just have this inner peace - A knowing that everything will work out.
"Psychology recognizes three levels of knowledge:
1. Knowing (gathering facts, intellect)
2. Knowing that you know (intuition)
3. Knowing that you know that your know (revealed inspiration, certainty)
When you experience illusive fear and guilt and imagine yourself going off on tangents due to unstable emotions, you're left with feelings of uncertainty. By doing so, you live in the past or the future, and you are loving or present. But when you're inspired and have love and gratitude, you become certain and can live in the now. Suddenly, you know that you know that you know, and you have an amazing and uplifting degree of certainty.
IMAGINE if someone asked you right now whether you truly loved some specific person. You might be caught off guard with a feeling of uncertainty and respond emotionally by saying, "Well, I'm generally attracted to him, but sometimes I'm also repelled by him. I don't really want to live without him, but I don't necessarily want to live with him, either." You're uncertain, but you just sort of know things.
Yet, if you reach a point where you go into a deeper state of love and appreciation, you can balance your perceptions of this same person and begin to know that you know how you feel. You then have a bit more certainty.
Finally, upon attaining a perfect harmony of perception, your heart opens and you have a moment of loving presence with this person. You're absolutely certain that you're in love: You know that you know that you know. Nobody can make you waver when your heart is truly open. For while imbalanced emotions make you indecisive, balanced loving lets you know that you know that you know..." I think you get the message!
"Inside the human heart is a knowing that surpasses all doubt; it is the certainty of certainties. This is the Law of Knowing at its finest. It's like the unconditional love that parents have for their children. When they know that they love a child, there's no question, even though the child may do things that they like or dislike. They may be attracted or repelled, but deep inside, they know that they know that they know that they truly love their child.
Trust your intuition and inspiration, and each time your heart tells you something, act on it. Every time you become inspired, follow your insight. Train yourself to follow your heart's guidance.
Some of the greatest accomplishments and individuals come from the certainty of knowing. Great men and women have certainty and follow it. They don't doubt or waver because their certainty overrides their fear and guilt - they stay with the Law of Knowing."
I think about how important this Law is for those of us who are brave enough to walk the road less traveled. This is the one thing that you can hold on to when everything else in the world might seem to crumble and even though you might just feel like you're hanging by a thread in the darkness for what seems an eternity at times - you just hold on and know that there will eventually be light and you come to realize that which you had clear in your mind - You were in paradise the whole time...

The Law of Mental Magnitude. I'm reading a really interesting book on the effects of your thinking (vibration), which by the way if you're interested in a pretty profound video that IBM put out over 50 years ago, go to http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A2cmlhfdxuY ... The vibration of our thoughts seems to have a very fundamental effect on water, and since we're made up of 70% water... as is the earth... I think you can start to imagine the possibilities...
"In my experience, if you'd love to make a difference in yourself, you must have a cause bigger than you are. If you'd love to make a difference in your family, you must have a cause as big as your city. If you'd love to make a difference in your city, you need a cause as big as your state. If you'd love to make a difference in your state, you must have a cause as big as your nation. If you'd love to become nationally known, you must have a cause as big as the globe. If you'd love to make a global difference, you must have an astronomical vision!
The magnitude of your vision - the size of what you see for yourself and your resources - determines your outcome. If you start thinking of yourself as a celestial being having a terrestrial experience, things suddenly begin to change: You attract broader opportunities from farther distances, and you become a being with global impact.
As a species, if we expand our consciousness and thinking, increasing our viewpoint of ourselves and the world, then the globe is ours - we CAN make a difference. The Law of Magnitude makes that difference, so enlarge yourself!" Fitting picture... Waves were huge this day just north of Old San Juan!

The Law of Planning. This is a great one! Seaplanes in Paradise is a result of Planning a lot! And of course a lot of action taken over the course of the last 15 years. The struggles have been enormous, but I truly believe in my heart that this is where I need to be. The opportunity for realizing all of my dreams is right here...Right under my feet!
"You've probably heard the old adage, "If you fail to plan, you plan to fail." This is just as true today as it's ever been. At 17, I learned another great morsel of wisdom from the 93-year-old gentleman who became my first mentor. He told me, "If you don't plan your life, someone else will, and you'll live someone else's dream."
He asked me to write a plan for my life that would last 100 years, so when I was 17, I began my Master Plan - my blueprint for living a masterful life. This mentor has since passed away, but if I could, I would certainly hug him to say, "Thank you for making such a significant difference in my life." Even today, I still refer to and refine this original Master Plan. It goes wherever I do." I have my own Master Plan and it's backed up so that I can always refer to it. It's think of it as my personal compass directed at True North regardless of the storms that I'm bound to encounter during my life...
"What does this mean for you? Every single day, sit and take a few moments to organize and plan your life. Address your spiritual, mental, professional, financial, familial, social and physical development. Put something down for each one of these major categories as you begin to outline your unique journey, your desires, and your vision.
Type your plans into a computer or write them down on paper as you take your dreams from inside your heart and make them tangible realities. There's something magical in translating abstract thoughts into recorded words - and a short pencil is better than a long memory. Sometimes you might have a jumbled idea, but when you write it on paper or type it, and really edit and refine it, your intentions will begin to crystallize and manifest themselves. You'll literally start to attract the people, ideas, and events that you hold in your mind. The PLAN helps YOU become the director of your living production.
Every day, take a few moments - even if it's only ten minutes before you go to bed or when you first wake up - to look at the map you've started. Refine it and keep fine-tuning it. I began when I was 17 years old with my aim to share my inspiring ideas with people, and to see and set foot in every country of the world. Today, many years later, that first rough draft has become reality.
You're the captain of your ship and the master of your destiny. Start with your own Master Plan; Simply take a few moments every day to draw out and design your life, just as an architect designs a skyscraper. Imagine trying to erect a building without a blueprint - the workers couldn't get anything done! You have, in a sense, all the motivated workers sitting inside you, but they can't leap into action until you follow the Law of Planning. Every day, take a quick break to keep defining and refining your Master Plan. YOU'RE the master!" Gotta love the new technology that helps us navigate our way to our destinations and dreams!

The Law of Energy. I'm very grateful for the energy I do have. I think it's true that when you're doing what you love, you'll find energy from within to move forward even when you're at the lowest point you can possibly imagine...
"If you feel drained, as if you can't get up, or as if you have chronic fatigue syndrome, know that you may be nothing more than distracted. Let's check: First, divide a piece of paper into four columns. In the first column, make a list of all the things on your mind. Whether the concerns are personal, financial, career, or health related - any area of your life, no matter what it may be - write them all down. Anything even flitting through your thoughts and taking up any space at all goes on your list.
After you've completed that , go to the second column and write down next to each item (that you listed in the first column) the name of any person to whom that corresponding action or item could possibly be delegated. Ask yourself, Is there anyone I could give this one to?
Often people carry tasks around in their minds, thinking, Oh, I've got to do this. Only I can do it. But all too frequently, they truly could entrust it to another - someone who not only wouldn't mind, but who'd be delighted to help. What about your husband or wife, or someone at work? Maybe your children, a friend, an accountant, or someone else can check a few of thos items off your list. It isn't wise to desperately push yourself when you can receive assistance. Instead, it's wise to do what you love and work toward delegating the rest to others.
After you've done this, put your initials in the third column next to any item that you can't pass on - these are the things that you'll do.
Then in the last column, write the dates that you're going to delegate or complete each of the tasks, and set realistic time frames. Many times people carry piles of stuff in their minds that they aren't really going to do for two or three weeks or a month - or even longer. These obligations run around in their heads, taking up space and time and distracting them. This consumes priceless energy.
When you're finished, every single item on your list will have a date on it. You'll realize, Wow! Tomorrow, there are only a few things I have to do. Tuesday or Wednesday, I have only two tasks to take care of, and I have six on Friday. Once they're sorted and organized in time and space (and, you're able to delegate some), you won't feel as overwhelmed - and your motivation will pick up immediately.
Another strategy that can help you build your energy is to review your life again and count your blessings. Gratitude continues to be the most significant way of increasing your zest. Be grateful and keep yourself from becoming distracted from this state of mind by sorting things out, delegating, prioritizing, and putting a name and date on each task. By doing so, you won't defeat yourself with low-priority items that drain you. When you're organized and grateful, you'll rise with energy. Your fulfillment will grow, and you'll have more life - rather than just living."
I have to admit that that as I type this out, I realize that I have to get back to basics constantly. This is a "MUST-DO" exercise and ultimately it helps me to continue focusing on my dream(s)! I simply want to focus my energy on achieving my fullest potential as a balanced entrepreneur and I want to share what I feel are important messages so that we can all move forward in a positive fashion.
I can't wait to be flying one of these planes around the world for the ReefCheck folks, helping to provide a valuable service helping them monitor one of our most precious eco-systems...

The Law of Trust. I think this law is perfect for the times we live in as we're all being challenged to re-think how we do things, what our efforts are worth and ultimately what makes us feel good.
"Suppose your were to believe that the world stinks, not to mention that people are crazy and hopeless. Imagine living with the perception that there are only disorders, traumas, and problems; everyone is a victim of circumstance; and there's nothing that you can do about it. You'd feel helpless and hopeless, wouldn't you? At the very least, you'd throw your hands up and exclaim, "Look at what the world is coming to!" OUCH. I can't imagine moving too far forward with any dream thinking like that...
"Some people may say, "Well we don't want a Pollyanna mind-set, either, where we think everything is fine and dandy and ignore the problems and issues of life." That's true, too. Both of these polarized extremes are foolish. But what about the center, middle ground between the cynic and the idealist, where optimism and pessimism are joined. There's wisdom in trusting the world and knowing that, when united, both ends of the spectrum can meet to bring a balanced orientation and open heart.
It's wise to perceive the world as doing whatever it can to assist you in getting what you'd truly love, using both supportive and discouraging responses in a balanced fashion. When you make that leap, you'll begin to perceive the events around you differently.
Rather than blaming and making excuses, think, I'm accountable for my reality. I have the ability to change my perceptions and become awakened to a balancing and loving world worth trusting. A century ago, renowned philosopher and psychologist William James said that the greatest discovery of his generation was that human beings can alter their lives by changing their attitudes. I've helped thousands see their same old lives with new eyes, and watched as their experience changed from desperation and resentment into gratitude and love. Why not change your perception so that no matter what happens, you'll receive an opportunity to grow?
You'll receive all kinds of responses to your actions in order to catalyze your greatness-believe that the universe is helping you. Since it isn't what happens that counts, but rather your understanding of it, why not trust the world and see that it serves us all?
Create in your mind the idea that the universe is someone worthy of trusting. Personify it and imagine it being a friend, with your best interests at heart: You have a beautiful, terrible, terrific universe doing whatever it can to empower you. When you filter life through trust, amazing things happen; Instead of seeing an ordinary event as a mistake, you'll say, "What an opportunity, I know this is a gift." When you "unwrap" the matter using new, sharper perceptions, you'll discover that countless opportunities, resources, ideas, and friends can be found inside."
Stay tuned... Don't be surprised to see one of these Corona birds flying by your favorite waterside retreat, restaurant or bar in the not-so-distant future! Ahhhhh, doesn't the thought alone make you thirsty?

The Law of Alignment. This one is going to be short and sweet. Lots to do lately getting ready for the upcoming season in the Northeast - Getting in touch with all the resorts, marinas and vendors I can think of! I was taught long ago that you keep on trucking along, regardless of the current circumstances and the overall tone of the collective consciousness. I believe that we all have an internal map that we must follow to realize our dreams - It takes a lot of work and faith in your purpose.
"One of the most effective ways to achieve productivity, motivation, and loyalty among employees is to align their job description to their innermost values and the company mission. This doesn't mean that they sacrifice themselves for the employer, or that the business forfeits itself for the employee. It just means that their benefits overlap and align: This is the Law of Alignment. I've seen corporations literally triple their net return in less than a year from just doing this one process through all the ranks of the company. The Law of Alignment can expand your enterprise - or for that matter, if applied to your family, bring greater communication to your loved ones." I think we can all use that! Have to remember this one when Seaplanes in Paradise has service centers worldwide, operating various aircraft platforms for a multitude of applications. Exciting treasure map I've found!

The Law of Clearance. No regrets. Someone asked me recently if I had any and I think that because I've chosen to forgive myself and others for the mistakes made along the way, I honestly don't have any. It's logical to wish that we didn't have to go through hell to reach our dreams, but I've come to learn through my own experiences and watching others evolve around me that Life is built to teach us as effectively and efficiently as possible if we choose to pay attention.
"Many people walk through their lives dragging their emotional baggage and carrying heavy burdens because of a misperceived past-events they've never broken through, seen beyond, or appreciated and loved." IF YOU'RE DOING IT - STOP!
"Make a list of every single thing in your life that your resent or that you've never loved - anything that you think you made a mistake on or that you believe you could have done "better." And then go through those items one by one and ask yourself, How did it serve me? How did it serve others? Respond to these two questions again and again until you discover the benefits of these actions and events, and see the balance, the order, and the gifts from them in your life - and in the loves of others.
There are no mistakes: Every experience is a gift and a lesson in how to love ourselves and others more deeply." I've been telling my brother this is how is it for years, since he's always making fun of my "failures." He still doesn't believe me, but I know it's true!
"It's time to clear out the illusions you have about your past so that you can see how all events serve you - and how they help others. Keep writing about this until you can see the hidden order and blessing. Every time you reinterpret an apparently negative experience as a service - every time you can "clear" an event - you add fuel to your life rather than continuing to carry baggage and burden yourself. In other words, an attitude of gratitude determines your altitude in life.
If you go through life weighed down by resentful or guilt-filled illusions, you make yourself a victim instead of seeing and seeking your victories, so clear out the misconceptions of your past. Open yourself to the truth that no matter what you've done or neglected, you've served and have also been ministered to.
Most people perceive superficially, but you must get below the surface and then look even further. Keep asking how every event in your life has aided you and how it has assisted others. I assure you that there's a blessing in each incident you previously thought of as a curse. There's an opportunity in every challenge. Give yourself the gift of freedom by going back in your life and asking, How did it serve? And, above all, love yourself."
You're going to notice I'm getting my fill of waterside sights and sounds since I've been living in the desert off and on for the last 8 years...

The Law of Service. I think this law is pretty consistent with all the messages so far. I just got off the phone, after speaking with an equally inspired individual from South Florida. I've come to realize that we're all working hard to achieve our dreams and I do believe that if you take command of your abilities to serve, focusing on the options you love most, chances are the end user will be very happy with the results!
"No matter what you do or don't do in your life, you serve, and you're worthy of love. Realize this! Somebody's gaining something in experience or benefit by whatever you do."
This fellow from South Florida called me tonight out of the blue and told me how he was inspired by what I'm creating. He told me how he's been dreaming up a very similar version of Seaplanes in Paradise... It's no surprise to me. One thing that I learned while rafting the Grand Canyon recently is that all of this water flows so effortlessly, sort of like all of our thoughts and the energy of life, our collective dreams brought to life by our actions in motion... Thinking out loud now... Sometimes, you're not paying attention or planning for what's possible, and these invisible reverse flows (Eddy's) will grab you, normally after an adrenaline pumping rapid...Life will sometimes make you work harder than ever to get back into the natural flow, but you do learn to Focus!
"Make it a goal that whatever service you choose to fulfill, whichever path you find truly inspiring-you give much more than is ever expected. In fact, give twice that. This is especially powerful in business, which I learned from my own seminars. You'll find it especially easy to follow this principle when you open your heart and serve enthusiastically. If you're doing something that you really don't love, others can sense it. If you're pursuing something that you're truly inspired about, they can feel that, too. Your enthusiasm will add to your contributions, and those around you will desire even more.
Open your heart in service and share something of a dream you have. It's an old axiom of marketing that if you find your niche and go after it, success is a cinch. Find your specialty by discovering what inspires you most and sharing it with those who are equally motivated. Get together with anyone who's also inspired by your unique form of giving, and share your energy. Go out of your way to provide more than anyone expects, knowing that no matter what you do, you serve - and now that you've targeted your energy, maximum service comes from every drop of your life."

The Law of Power. This is the 4th time through this book for me and every time I read another law I realize how far I've come, and how far I still have to go... I can honestly say that I am in a slow work in progress, but c'est la vie. I'm glad I'm here in Puerto Rico for the winter, getting really connected to my purpose, desire and dream... I'm swimming in the ocean just about everyday around 5 pm and it's probably one of the most invigorating things I've ever done for myself and I've done a lot to reward myself. I think it's really important to reward yourself for all of your efforts in order for happiness to be a consistent visitor in your life! That being said, I think I'll start with Dr. DeMartini's concluding paragraph:
"You have all seven of these powers at your disposal on some level all the time. Ask yourself where you are now, and consider where you'd love to be. Is there an area you've neglected or one you could develop?" I CAN VOUCH FOR THIS ONE! YES AND I LEARNED ONE OF THE HARDEST LESSONS OF MY LIFE BECAUSE OF NEGLECTING ONE OR MORE OF THESE AREAS. IT ALMOST KILLED ME! NOT FUN!!!
"Don't just focus on a single power, or work on some to the exclusion of others, because each of them has a tremendous impact on your quality of life. Remember: Any area of your life that you don't EMpower opens the possibility that someone else will OVERpower you in that arena."
This is a long one again, so grab a cup of something tasty and kick back... I've integrated this law into my daily life, mainly because I came to realize the hard way that if I didn't, I might just have to learn the lesson in an even harder way, so I said NO THANK YOU to that concept.
"Few of us get up in the morning and think, I wish I were weaker. Most people dream of being more powerful and would love to have more vitality to accomplish all they'd love to do and be in life. There are seven primary human powers. Let's explore what they are and how to unleash, increase, and develop them.
1. Spiritual: Having a mission - almost a sense of God and the universe are working on your team to assist you in fulfilling your personal cause or dream - brings a mystical force to everything you do. Say to yourself, I am the vision, God is the power, and we are the team.
2. Mental: Leonardo da Vinci is a prime example of this kind of brilliance. As people use the power of their minds, they study, learn and develop. An expanded intellect is power in itself. Remember to use the affirmation, I am a genius, and I apply my wisdom.
3. Professional: By applying sound business principles (such as a clear vision, a strategic plan, prioritized actions, delegation of lower priorities, and feedback accountability) to your daily business life, you can garner the same prestige and influence as the heavy hitters of industry. Think of what Bill Gates has at his disposal. Whether you're a fan of Microsoft or not, you have to admit that not only has Gates amassed a fortune, but his position as one of the most successful businesspeople in the US also allows him to make meaningful contributions to causes he cares about, which inspires others to do the same. Through sheer grandness of scale, he improves both his own life and the lives of millions of others.
4. Financial: To acquire not just wealth, but also this true power, you must pay yourself first, develop and accumulate material abundance through persistent and methodical saving, and know how to manage your finances wisely.
5. Familial: You'll build a dynasty through the strength of stable, supportive relationships at home. By mastering the skill of communicating your values in terms that other family members understand, your bring greater caring and respect to everybody's life. Also, being truly present with loved ones when you're home - and not being distracted by all the issues that go on in your career or the outside world - helps you remain loving and grateful.
6. Social: This is the power of people. The more individuals who know you and whom you know, and the more you meet and greet, the better you serve yourself. You don't have to hobnob with the elite to amass social power; just get to know and appreciate the people around you.
7. Physical: You're probably already aware of the incredible allure of health and vitality. Add to that charisma and magnetism, and your physical power is enhanced exponentially. Anything you can do to heighten your attractiveness and boost your energy levels will awaken this power.
There you have it... Take the time for you and your dreams... Explore your imagination... Discover things about yourself that will enhance your life, the lives of your loved ones and my life too:)

The Law of Self Analysis. Talk about getting humbled. I suppose this is a good time to reflect on who we are and how we got to where we are as individuals as well as a collectively confused society. In the face of adversity, which for some, it would seem to be the same old story, perhaps we build up such a strong defense mechanism that we ultimately disillusion ourselves - separate ourselves from the truth, while the ones we love try to help us through the rough spots. In reality, there's nothing to for them to do, except shake us up a bit and help us realize that we need to take a closer look at ourselves...
"I stopped about every hour, on the hour and reflected on what had been going through my mind: What have I been feeling? What have I been experiencing? What did I accomplish? I took stock of all the different aspects of what I encountered throughout the day. In the process, I discovered what truly worked for me-and what didn't. I learned about my diet, my interactions with others, fulfilling my sleep needs, meeting my reading goals, and how I could increase my learning capacities and maximize my energy levels. Take time every day to reflect on what you've learned about yourself. Review what you've completed or left undone; see what's working and where you're maximizing your creativity, energy, vitality, flexibility, and agility; and take note of your physical, mental and spiritual potential.
Look at what's worked and what hasn't, because otherwise, you're left to the whims of maybe, possibly, and a host of other uncertainties. Anything you do that's uncertain in your life is less empowering than that which is done with certainty. The Law of Self-Analysis will add confidence to your life, poise to your body, and balance to your mind. It will help you in your relationships as you find that what you experience with others has a lot to do with what's going on inside of you. This principle opens a gateway to new possibilities, so make sure that you follow the Law of Self-Analysis in your daily life."
It's amazing how I come across these laws on the days that they make the most sense. You have to wonder if running a business doesn't depend on all these laws, right? Well, I'm coming to learn that every single law plays into the big picture and I've only got 40 more to go from this book. Fun! I'm going to put some pictures up from a caravan on wheels transforming to one on floats. Eric Smith, Director of Maintenance at Atlantic Aviation was nice enough to share these with me. If you ever need Caravan service, he's the man!

The Law of Perserverance. This is a no-brainer, right? Like all the other laws though, it seems as if we might have a tendency to get side-tracked a little bit or a whole lot depending on where we're at on the learning curve. I'm a firm believer even in the toughest of times that "this too will pass..." and your future depends on how you apply yourself in this moment. It ain't always going to be pretty, but perseverance will get you through just about anything if you give it enough time and attention.
"Creative evolutionary models show us that every life-form has its time, with a beginning and an end. Likewise, everything that you manifest has a start and a finish. If you don't hold your vision and goals long enough, they're unlikely to materialize-perseverance is one of the greatest keys to success. If you trust your intuition and inspiration, hold on to your visions, and persevere toward your goals, your dreams come true sooner or later. Perseverance conquers all obstacles. Like the Law of Certainty, the Law of perseverance is one of the grand secrets to making things happen. The person who's willing to continue-no matter what-succeeds. Consider Michael Jordan, who continually shot baskets despite what seemed to stand in his way (like not making his high school team), and persevered. He once said, "Obstacles don't have to stop you. If you run into a wall, don't turn around and give up. Figure out how to climb it, go through it, or work around it." This is the person who fulfills his or her dreams.
The Law of Perseverance involves the willingness to take action on your dreams every single day without stopping. Even if they're baby steps, each day you take another one toward your goal. The Law of Perserverance means letting neither pain nor pleasure interfere with the pursuit of your purpose. You'll be challenged in life, ridiculed, distracted, and told that you can't succeed, but pay no attention. Focus on the vision you're holding in your heart. Cling to your dream-don't lose it! The Bible says that those who lose their vision perish; I've learned that those who hold it will flourish. It's the Law of Perseverance that makes things possible and makes all your dreams come true. Never give up on yourself!"
That's powerful stuff. It's real and Seaplanes in Paradise is living proof. I won't go into much detail right now, but you won't believe what I've had to cling to in order to get here. Quite frankly, you wonder sometimes if you can make it through knowing that there is a good chance that it's going to be grueling beyond even your imagination, but if I can be so bold as to say that when I'm an old man - I know there will be a part of me wishing that I could experience first-hand what I feel today - the opportunity to dive head first into that tension that surrounds all dreamers and achievers as we reach deep down inside for more inspiration and faith, expanding our capabilities, and shattering our fears one at a time... This is a side of heaven that only few will ever know.
I've been blessed with another beautiful sunset!

The Law of Self-Mastery. This one is going to be a long one, only because I think that everything we build on the outside world starts with us on the inside. If we can all get this one right, then the brick we lay down each day in the pursuit of our dreams is one brick that we won't have to pick back up again... I don't know about you, but I'm getting the feel that it takes quite a few bricks to build something great and not so much time to be moving bricks around...
"Mrs. Grubbs, a lovely lady who lived next door to me when I was a child, taught me a valuable lesson as I weeded my family's farden. Day after day, she'd encourage me to plant something else in the weeds' place, because otherwise I'd just keep having to come back to pull out more. Today, I realize that a garden can be a great metaphor for a mind. Your self-mastery is determined by how well you manage your thoughts. If you plant into your mind the very fine detail of exactly how you'd love your life to be, hold that image and feel it as if it were truly there in your inner world, you'll begin to manifest it in your life.
Your outer masterpieces will actually come from your inner self-mastery, which will require both positive and negative feedback. When it's launched, a rocket ship spends 90% of its energy on feedback and correction to get off the ground and into space. In your life, a high percentage of your own "launching" comes through feedback, because you require support and challenge to personally evolve. It's been shown that humans grow the most when they're right on the border of positive and negative responses.
To obtain self-mastery, you must embrace both sides of life, as well as the full vision of your future that you hold, knowing that there will be people who like your plans and those who don't. It's been said that if you aren't being crucified, so to speak, you're not on track to fulfilling your purpose-which just means that you'll have challenges in lief. That's what will make you stronger.
Take your first step by clarifying your mission: Identify it visually until you see it; say it to yourself until you hear it; and hold is as both a thought and a feeling. Endure both positive and negative replies, for your life mastery is really your mental mastery-which is simply your willingness to embrace all aspects of your existence and not forsake your vision and focus.
The Law of Self-Mastery is yours. It doesn't cost anything except your time, effort and focus. Right now, I ask you to stop, close your eyes, and enjoy the image of how you'd love your life to be. You're the Master!"

The Law of Association. Just got back from El Yunque Rainforest. Had a fantastic hike to the top of three peaks - A walk in the clouds is always refreshing, especially through a rainforest that makes you feel like you're walking through Jurassic Park. A little down time to put fresh thoughts into the mix this coming week as we all get ready for the challenges ahead. So here we go with an important concept regarding philosophies...
"You've probably heard the sayings "Birds of a feather flock together, and If you associate with turkeys, you end up gobbling away your days. Think about these statements. The people with whom you associate have a major influence on the way you view life. I say that if you associate with people from all places without limiting yourself, you'll become more awakened spiritually. You're wise to look through the eyes of as many beings as possible. Pick out great spiritual teachers and associate with them. To your amazement, you might actually be able to directly contact such founding or primary leaders. Make a list of all the people you'd love to meet, all the philosophies you'd love to study, and all the ideas that would awaken your spiritual appreciation. Then go and be receptive to new associations and opportunities, and fill your time and life with such enlightened people. What better actions ca you pursue than those you're guided to by your wise soul? Remember: The greatest teacher, the wisest guru, is ultimately your own soul. If you become grateful, open your heart, and apply the Law of Association by getting together with insightful mentors, your life will unfold with even more wisdom and grace."
I think Dr. John F. Demartini is a pretty smart guy. I agree with what he has to say. I look forward to meeting many mentors in my life as I continue to grow as an individual. Ultimately it's amazing how we grow into those very positions of mentor as the next generation of dreamers and achievers seek guidance on their amazing journey.

The Law of Discipline. I came across another awesome quote today. "Dreams pass into the reality of action.
From the actions stems the dream again; and this interdependence produces the highest form of living." Well, now that I read it again, it makes for a good intro once again.
"This law may sound singularly uninspiring, but the word discipline comes from the same latin root as disciple. I came to realize that disciples are individuals who listen to and obey the inner messages and visions of their soul. They follow their inspirations and are therefore stirred to action and focused in their pursuits: They exhibit discipline. In time, I discovered that one of the ways to express even more inspired discipline in my life was to use a checklist to keep me focused. It acted as a prompter to remind me and even push me with questions: Did I read my mission statement today? Did I read my primary goals and objectives today? Did I read my affirmations today? Did I prioritize my actions today? Did I stick to my priorities today? Did I communicate with my clients using their terms and values today? Everything I found to be of help in my career or life was incorporated into my checklist. Start with a checklist. Give yourself rewards. Get someone to make you accountable. The power of discipline will start showing up in your life. You'll do more of what you know works, and you'll get to do more of what you love. This power makes YOU the disciple, and you get to follow your own soul - and that's self-actualization."
We all need this one to stay on track. It's easy to shake off accountability for what you know is necessary to achieve your goals. I think if you follow through though, you will always find yourself grateful for the outcome that you realize.

The Law of Greater Cause. Before I get started with this entry, I'd like to share this quote for peace and serenity..."Use the act of writing to peel away layers of defenses and reactions, and to access the depths of your soul. Unmask yourself and give shape to your unique experience." I feel as if that's exactly what I'm doing and it feels good. If just one person is inspired by any of this to achieve greatness in his or her own way, then it's all worth it!
So, as I'm refresing my memory about this law, I realize that the above is almost miraculously a perfect lead in...Somehow, lately I feel as if I'm surrounded by perfect synchronicity and I can't tell you how grateful I am for everything that I have been blessed with. It's a long story and somehow I think we'll leave it to the professionals to tell it someday. In the interim, the law of greater cause is all about your goals in life involving something beyond yourself...
"The larger your cause, the greater the opportunities you'll receive in relation to it. This applies not only to charitable organizations and ideas, but also to your personal life: If there is a greater purpose to your wealth, you'll attract greater opportunities for acquiring it. You're also wise to ask yourself when you're developing your cause, If I don't know what I'm going to do with the money I accumulate, why would the universe give it to me? Make an explicit plan for how each cent would be allocated. Make sure you have a purpoes larger than your immediate needs, or you'll become challenged in attempting to rise beyond your current circumstances. The greater your cause, on the other hand, the greater your potential wealth can be, since more people will want to support your plan, be a part of it and invest in it. One of the secrets of this process is making sure that you have a great intention that abundance can flow to: The Law of Greater Cause. You won't find any person of vast fortune who doesn't have a larger purpose, so make sure that you plan beyond yourself."
Love this sunset shot I took today. I love the ocean and I'll say this now for Seaplanes in Paradise as it applies to this Law. God willing, this company will grow to fund a foundation for oceanic research, education, protection, and exploration worldwide.

The Law of Completion. This exercise absolutely trains you to do what you say and say what you feel you can reasonably accomplish. It goes a long way to consistently perform when others fall short. I believe this law can help anyone set themselves apart from the competition relatively quickly.
"It's wiser to set goals, break them down into smaller steps with reasonable time frames, and then do them. Train yourself to accomplish what you intend to and reward yourself - then go on to the next mission and do the same. The reason most people hesitate and procrastinate is that they haven't cut their objectives down into achievable bits with proper schedules, and haven't linked each one to their highest values. When you put your goals into sensible periods of time and action steps, you tend to accomplish them and reward yourself as you develop. By doing so, you're teaching yourself to complete your objectives, which will lead to your dreams. Patience and rehearsal make for perfection."
Here's a shot from the beach today. It was a perfect day! San Juan is the perfect home base for Seaplanes in Paradise...

The Law of Transition. I just did this exercise and it really does help me create my life and that of Seaplanes in Paradise, which is an extension of my imagination and a result of my life experience...
"The Law of transition provides some ideas on how to make a change from something that you don't enjoy to something that you do. Begin by clearly defining exactly what you'd love to do. Until you know and declare it to yourself, why would the universe give it to you? Opportunity isn't going to just land in your lap if you're not willing to take some actions toward it and be clear about what you want. That's like trying to hire someone for a job description you've never defined. Just imagine trying to do that, and you'll see that it won't work. But if you define exactly how you want your life to be, I believe that you can literally create or attract into your world the people, ideas, and events-as well as the economics-to support every imaginable job you could desire. In other words, doing what you love and loving what you do is possible. And you can become wonderfully paid for it. But first, it's essential that you define it. So, sit down at your computer and type (or get a piece of paper and write) exactly how you wish your days could be spent, and the career or job that you'd be thrilled to do. Describe it fully and define it. Now go back and look at all the positions you've held, because there are no mistakes in any of them. Your previous jobs served a purpose: They gave you tools and talents that will help you in the pursuit of your dreams. Find out how those experiences were necessary, and think about how you can apply them all-please don't thrown them away! Instead, build on them: How can you use those skills in this new path?"
After all that, you have to come up with a plan describing each step that you can think important in achieving your dream. Keep it simple, start from the end result and let it flow backwards until you reach the present moment. Capture those moments that seem important during the rewind and write those down. Now press Play and start living it. I know, easier said than done - Practice makes perfect and that applies to everyone taking a breath right now.
I have to share this story in the book just because I think it's really awesome and I love to dance.
"A lady in Canada attended one of my personal-development programs designed to "create the career and life you dream of." She approached me and said, "Well, what I'd love to do is dance." She was a beautiful, large woman who thrived on moving to music, yet she claimed, "But I can't do that! I'm working as a secretary now." I told her, "Well, define how you'd love your career to be." "I'd just be so happy to dance," she repeated, then added, "and get paid for it." We sat down to brainstorm and begin a new business plan-and in less than one hour, we laid out a basic preliminary course and generated many creative ideas. Guess what that lady does today? She travels to various countries and organizes tours for those who want to learn unique forms of dancing from all over the world, such as Spanish flamenco, Italian tarantella, and many others. She takes people on incredible trips (sometimes 15 to 20 people or more); she charges her fee plus the price of the tour; and she spends her days dancing, traveling, and getting paid for it."
We're all capable of writing a similar story. Have faith, believe you can and you will!
Isn't that a beautiful sight. Dancing on the water...

The Law of Poise. This one will get you thinking. It makes a lot of sense, but definitely requires a bit of surrender of pre-conceived notions.
"To have presence or poise (which are other words for balance), you must see life with equilibrium. You're bound to encounter events that at first seem terrible, but that later you'll see as actually quite fortunate. And other experiences that you first think are terriffic will become terrible later. In truth, these occurrences were neither - they were always balanced -but your mind was stunned temporarily. Infatuation and resentment are blind, but a truly loving equilibrium sees the whole of life in harmony. when something occurs that you seem to be attracted to or repelled by - or when anything distracts you and takes you off-center -dig down deep inside yourself, and then go back and look at the incident with the eyes of balance."
I know how it is to go off course on this one. I am hopeful that I've learned my lessons well on this issue of balance. For me, I've learned to think of balance on 7 different levels (spiritual, mental, professional, financial, family, social, and physical) and I try to give each one attention on a daily basis.
"Poise is healing and magnetic. It's a centering process that allows us to remain focused and avoid distractions. This state helps you accomplish your dreams and visions and gives you the capacity for leadership, no matter what the situation. If you're a victim of circumstance, it rules you, but if you're a master of circumstance and you just dance, you stay poised. Keep a balanced perspective."
Life is what you make it, so choose to live your experiences balanced...
There is a great friend out there in Colorado somewhere tonight. He's 10 years old and quite the accomplished water color artist, future X-games snowboarding and BMX star! Quintin won a prize for this beautiful piece and somehow we helped to bring some attention to the issue of "shark fin soup" being served at elite resorts worldwide.
I think balance on every level will help us all sleep better at night. Do what you can to help out. There are organizations that tirelessly research, educate and travel the world to help bring balance to this amazing world!

The Law of Meditation. There are two parts to this law - One is passive or receptive and the other is active or assertive. This is going to require your full attention.
Before I forget, if you're interested in what makes an entrepreneur tick, I think this article is pretty interesting and accurate.
http://www.cnn.com/2009/LIVING/worklife/01/12/entrepreneur.psychology/index.html
I saw this quote today and thought, "Yeah that's a good way of looking at the realities of life." We're always learning...
"A man should never be ashamed to own that he has been
in the wrong, which is but saying... that he is wiser today
than yesterday."
"In passive meditation, you sit in total silence while you count your blessings and enter a state of deep appreciation. In this quiet gratitude, your mind opens and allows ideas to enter; it dissolves any static and becomes clear and receptive. You become present." I became so present practicing this last bit last night that I fell asleep in my chair. Now that's pretty funny!
"To experience passive meditation, maintain that clear, quiet, receptive state for at least five minutes, keeping a little notepad next to you to write down any thoughts that come. You're like a radio, and you'll receive inspiring ideas in this state. When one pops up-something that you can use in your practical life-write it down and return to your meditation. Simpoly continue passively receiving more new guidance. Just remember this: The more grateful you are, the easier it is to receive, and the quicker the ideas enter; the sharper the image, the clearer the message; and the more gratitude you broadcast, the more clarity you receive."
Did I mention that you're going to need some quiet space for this one?
"Once you've received an inspiring idea, you then begin the second form of meditation: the active part. This means taking the new concept and immediately concentrating on it in detail, focusing and becoming completely present with it. Hold the original image of your passive meditation, and then hone it with increasing attention to the particulars. Imagine yourself creating that inspiration into reality. You begin as a creature receiving an insight, and you end as a creature manifesting it. From passive reception to active creation."
I think there is a missing component in this Law and that is, that everything comes down to faith. You have to believe that you can create your own reality from those powerful thoughts that drive you to live your life with love and passion- that you can make your most inspiring dreams come true.
You know this little 185 Amphibian flew me from NY to some of the best years of my my life in Puerto Rico, following my MBA program. All I know is that during my MBA, I didn't stop thinking about creating this reality. It was absolutely awesome to see it become real! I'm upgrading the experience so that folks can enjoy it worldwide and make a nice return on investment doing it!

The Law of Certainty. This is a golden one and it's probably one of the most difficult ones to master because we're human and we put too much attention on our flaws as opposed to what's great about "ME"
"If you were to go through life imagining yourself with confidence and using your visual camera - your inner mental photography, or "mentography" - to picture yourself living as you'd love to, then you'd raise your level of certainty. Start now to affirm just how you'd love your life to be. Say to yourself, I am certain. I know this. I am a master. When you repeat these statements daily until all the cells of your body tingle with it, so will the world come to believe it. Your affirmations and visualizations will build your certainty and your acts of power will add to it. What you see for yourself, what you say to yourself and how you act determine YOUR path. The law of certainty can be the difference between a mediocre existence and one of amazing fulfillment. You have the power to live the life of your dreams through growing in certainty."
I've learned that this is absolutely one of the key ingredients to overcoming the conditioning that holds the majority of us from chasing our dreams and for those who do and achieve those dreams, being happy along the way and once you arrive. It's a must do. The visualizations he speaks of are critical to believing that something outside the box of your current knowledge and experience is possible. The more you practice, the more you believe and quite frankly you really do start to write your own book - The book that you want to live as opposed to living by a book that someone else gave you or suggested you should live by. Deep stuff, but it's fun! Like Donald Trump says, "Think Big and Kick Ass!" What do you have to lose? I rafted the Grand Canyon back in November. It was one of those visualizations come true. It works! AMAZING TRIP! 8 days on the river, one FANTASTIC ADVENTURE. Camping out under the stars at night so far removed from civilization and really just happy in the moment to be experiencing what felt like Jurassic Park... Campfires on pristine beaches... the list goes on. Put it on your list and make it happen!

The Law of Silence.
"Imagine what would happen if you sat for 15 or 30 minutes (or longer) in pure silence - no distractions other than natural sounds in the environment. When you do so, your brain chatter can begin to diminish. Suddenly, clear thoughts are able to enter your mind, and solutions to unsolved problems may surface. In fact, some of the great accomplishments of human genius have been birthed in moments of silence."
I believe that silence is definitely an opportunity for the beacon inside of us to go live wire... We're bombarded by distractions, pleasure and pain - like no other human beings in the history of the world. Sometimes I wonder how we manage it all. I definitely look forward to my time swimming in the ocean everyday. It's an opportunity to reconnect with myself and the world around me. I don't always come away having the answers, but I do have a clean slate to start processing again... Most of the time, I'm dreaming up new ways to make Seaplanes in Paradise more efficient and desirable to elite travelers worldwide. I just keep putting it out there and eventually Seaplanes in Paradise will be a magnet for attracting the very best things, while serving up the most amazing quality service to clients worldwide. Love this picture. My little girl isn't so little anymore. You never know. You might see her flying one of our seaplanes someday. She's 19 years old now.

The Law of Vitality. Here goes a list of 7 tools that will help anyone live more fully:
"1. Know where you're going. Your energy soars when you're clear on your aim and direction. 2. Be thankful. When you're thankful for your life, your power picks up. 3. Eat Moderately. Biological research shows that people live longer if they eat less, and they also have more get-up-and-go. 4. Drink water. 5. Breathe fully and deeply. Yogis describe the breath as prana, or fundamental life force. 6. Connect your vocation and your avocation. Make sure there is a link between your work and what sets your mind and heart on fire. 7. Smile. Not only will you have vigor in your body, but you'll also find vivacity in your mind and more vitality in your creative expressions and actions."
Sometimes I wonder how we're supposed to fit all of this stuff into 24 hours. Anybody else sympathize? I guess it's all about awareness and balance. While we're flying seaplanes, we hope we know where we're going. Definitely thankful when the flight works out the way I imagined it would. Don't eat a whole lot, so we've got that one licked. Always carrying a water bottle around. I've done Bikram Yoga in the states and that will get you breathing every time and it sure does make you peaceful - The whole mind-body connection becomes apparent right away. Doing what I love is absolutely non-negotiable and that thought puts a smile on my face everyday!

The law of Appreciation. "The law of Appreciation teaches you how to raise your own value and helps you grow. It's not only the secret of fulfillment, but it's also the secret to decreasing the need to edit or rewrite life. You have more vitality when you have appreciation than you do at any other time, so stop, reflect, and think about what you could give thanks for. Make it your aim to be appreciative of your life and acknowledge the amazing journey you experience."
I have to say that once you start, you can't stop and you begin to notice the miracles at every turn. Having flown and traveled extensively for the last 20 years, when I look back at everything, it's makes a lot of sense to appreciate the opportunities I've had and I'm inspired to know that if I've accomplished so much with so little, I can absolutely refine my approach and focus on the richness of my intentions for the present and beyond. Everyday that goes by, I realize how important this law is and it helps me to integrate my mind, body, soul and heart into one positive force! Ahhhhhhhh, what an awesome run this was! Telluride last winter was epic. This was my first black diamond snowboarding - CONFIDENCE - Appropriate name for that trail. Quite a hike to get there, but I was in good hands. My friend Dan is one of those guys who has climbed the highest mountains... Everyone has their own life to live, but I hope that the tracks you leave behind are filled with love and appreciation for what you experience. The present moment is the treasure we're all seeking!

The Law of Genius. "When I was 17, a wise 93-year old man shared a personal affirmation with me. He told me to say it every single day, without fail for the rest of my life: I am a genius, and I apply my wisdom."
The lesson here is pretty simple. You are what you believe you are and you accomplish that which you believe you can. I like this next statement, "If you put your hand in a pot of glue, some of it will stick..." Question is which pot of glue do you want?
Personally, I have learned to subscribe to putting my mind into the great works of the masters. I believe that associating with other geniuses will eventually rub off on me and help me to create a more balanced and successful life. I've definitely had my hands in the wrong pots of glue before, but I suppose that's all part of learning what's good for you. My dad has always said that life's challenges are a way of tempering your armour so that you can move forward in strength and knowledge - I suppose we could call that wisdom.
So, I choose to associate with giants now, follow the law of Genius and watch what brilliant actions come out of my life! It's the only way for me to give my best to the world and that's my purpose for being. I love this shot. I was tucked away from the surf for hours... the waves were crashing just on the other side of the rocks - Harmony... North shore of Kauai, early in the morning. My brother and I have been traveling the world together - looking for answers through the lens, while sharing our experiences through our expression of fine art photography... That's been my side gig for the last 15 years...Check out his site www.louiscantillo.com

The Law of Presence. "The secret to being present is keeping a balanced mind, which lets your true self shine. You're enlightened when you become present: You see things not as greater or lesser, but as true and equitable. Here in this moment, the seer, seeing, and seen are all the same. In the now, you're centered, more receptive, and more willing to listen than to speak, and you're able to attract opportunities. People who are present experience open hearts and minds because they're in a state of equilibrium. They have poise. Those who live this way lead and rule; they govern and direct."
You may be asking, what does this have to do with Seaplanes in Paradise and business in general. People always ask, "How did you get to this point? How can you take so many risks? Aren't you afraid?" The truth is that these laws that I'm outlining are really fundamental values that we should all embrace for our own good and the good of those around us. I firmly believe that success when measuring any endeavor is built on a solid foundation and it's definitely all in the details. I can say that I try to be present everyday so that I can provide the very best quality service to my clients. I want to lead the way in whatever I choose to do and I want to rule my own world! This picture is a favorite from Cap Ferrat in the South of France. What an amazing place! A Sailboat like that is high on my wish list with a caravan amphib in tow:)

The Law of Blessings. "Take the time to notice and be grateful for what you have - no matter what it feels like right now - your life will certainly change. Pause every single day to just stop and think of what you can give thanks for, and then record it in an ongoing list."
Well, tonight the streets of San Juan were alive with beautiful people, music, fireworks... I'm very happy to be here spreading the word to resort owners about Seaplanes in Paradise. I'm going to be pushing the fractional program pretty hard this month. I'm going to focus on the Cessna 206 Stationair Amphibian & 208 Caravan for now, but I hope to broker the Dornier Seastar, as well as the Viking Twin Otter and the Antilles Super Goose in the near future. I think each aircraft definitely has its' purpose and I look forward to making myself available to answer any questions regarding these excellent aircraft options. This is a shot of Lake Powell while flying tours out to Monument Valley. I have to say that I've been very fortunate! I'm very grateful for every bit of it.

So here we go. Another year on its way out. Wow! It's been a challenging one, but I'm more excited than ever to move forward. The next law is The Law of Quality Questions. Here's a list of quality questions to get you started. "What would I love to do in my life?" Get a pen and paper ready and wait for the first thoughts to flow and then start writing. How do I get handsomely, beautifully and incredibly paid to do what I love? What are the seven highest priority action steps I can do today to make that happen? What obstacles might I encounter, and how can I solve them in advance? How can I do it more effectively and efficiently? What worked today, and what didn't? How did whatever happend to me - whether positive or negative - serve me?"
I"ve done this exercise more times than I can possibly remember. I think it's true that the best things in life take time to build and it's through introspection, believing that you have all the answers you need to succeed, and then taking action - this is when you truly begin to move in the direction of your dreams. Happy New Year everyone! I wish everyone on this amazing planet the very best!

The Law of Inspiration is next. "to paraphrase Henry David Thoreau, most people live quiet lives of desperation, not invigorating lives of inspiration - not doing what they love nor loving what they do. They aren't grateful, so they're stepping on the brakes rather than pushing the accelerator. They're blaming circumstances and the world around them instead of being inspired and fueled by them."
I have to say that this business of Seaplanes in Paradise is so much more than just a smarter way of doing business.. I am inspired to help others everyday. I am enthused to know that I have a vision and message for all those willing to listen. I am grateful for the opportunity I have to share so many beautiful experiences and opportunities. My friends here in San Juan have been great. They've welcomed me back to their island of enchantment with open arms. It's great to be back and I look forward to serving everyone better than ever in 2009.
Coming back from Culebra last weekend, I caught a glimpse of this amazing place called Luis Pena. This was a favorite destination years ago when we used to come out to this secluded beach and fantastic snorkel destination in the C-185 amphibian I flew. Stay tuned. It's on the list of top things to do while in PR and Seaplanes in Paradise will get you there!

Switching gears a bit! These months leading up to the elections were pretty intoxicating. I'm hoping like everyone else out there that this change will be a good one for the US and for the world in general. I've been doing some reflecting since the owner of the aircraft that was supposed to fly passengers this winter ran for the hills... I'm going to try something new and exciting and share 60 inspiring laws that I live my life by and that have enabled me to truly live out my dreams with Seaplanes in Paradise being MY BIG DREAM! I'm working on selling shares of my first fractional management contract and I'm going to spend this coming winter in Sunny San Juan, Puerto Rico doing it... The special book, "You can have an Amazing Life in just 60 days!" by Dr. John F. Demartini "is for those individuals who would truly love to live a free and amazing life, for those who feel inspired or called from within to be someone extraordinary, or do and have something astonishing."
I will take each law and express how it has helped to inspire Seaplanes in Paradise. The first one is The Law of Love. I'm going to learn to surf in 2009!
This law is all about how important it is to let others know that you love them unconditionally. I do believe that one can transform what would otherwise be a desolate moment into one of concrete commitment. I know that I have become more, accomplished more and have reached higher that I ever thought possible because of the love I have been shown. I have to show gratitude to my family and dear friends for all that they have given in support of my pursuit for Paradise... Love is Life and is therefore abundantly available to help you achieve anything your heart desires.

Can you believe this weather? Not a cloud in the sky... I think we'll just keep on flying until November at this rate. Working on getting the necessary certifications for Mexico worked out. We're going to be fishing this winter in Mexico. Weekly flight schedules will be published in the next few weeks. Are you ready for some of the best bass fishing in the world? You've come to the right place. Flights will leave from Deer Valley Airport and for you folks who are unfamiliar, that's situated north of Phoenix Sky Harbor airport. You'll be looking at about 2 1/2 hours down to Ciudad Obregon in most cases for customs, immigration and fuel. From there we're off again to experience an adventure you won't forget. The lodge is right on the lake, margaritas are flowing, and wide open spaces are calling... We're also working with vendors to provide exciting, unique eco-luxe excursions to Catalina Island and for you power-boaters looking for some relaxation in the desert, Lake Havasu is just an hour away from Phoenix, 45 minutes from Las Vegas and an hour and 15 minutes from San Diego. We've had great feedback from visitors to our website so far this year and we look forward to offering all of you the very best in service for many years to come, except that we will offer more and more every year.

This is a normal monday morning commute-- seaplanes, helicopters, and jets all taking to the skies with the movers and the shakers. Rush Hour at its' finest... So far, the weather has been exceptionally favorable this year. We are very fortunate in that sense. Pilots can rest a little easier simply because those 14 hour duty days can really make you just want to sleep for days. The air is so crisp and clean out east. No wonder everyone flocks to the beaches, the fun and easy pace of everyday life in the land of High Society. We're all excited to expand operations out west this coming winter. Although it's not the peak tourism time of year, we're confident that it will actually be easier to promote our initial service offerings without everyone being distracted by a multitude of other things to do. Traffic on the water will be less constrictive, thereby allowing us more freedom to explore the many opportunities that I am sure we will have lots of fun documenting. Hope everyone is getting their labor day plans lined up and I anticipate those plans include us!

Amazing how time flies. I've been working on this website, trying to make it as interesting and fun as possible. It is definitely a labor of love. I'll be out observing flights tomorrow as I need to get more pictures for my archives and Animoto presentations. I'm working on a Powerpoint "Killer" presentation that will help tell the SIP story as I would like to see it unfold in the years to come. If you're reading this, take a few moments to drop me a line and tell me what you think of the site, what you would like to see as a service offering or any other constructive thought you might have. I am very grateful for any and all feedback. We're definitely starting to enter the busiest part of the season here in the NYC and East Hampton markets. We're already starting to make arrangements for the winter. I'm talking to vendors in the Lake Havasu, Los Angeles, San Diego and Catalina Island markets. Applications are on their way to Mexico so we can start flying to Lake Bacubirito for some of the most amazing bass fishing and home cooked meals away from home you've ever experienced. You will love it!

Busy day on the East River. This will be the norm for the next few months as travel plans start to heat up. Never a dull moment between the helicopter traffic, the ferries and of course every once in a while you'll get an offshore racer ripping through this area. You definitely have to keep your eyes and ears peeled, because the environment is always different. Weather, winds, and boat wakes are always changing along with the tide. This type of flying is definitely not for everyone. Only those who love challenges need apply. Here's a nice shot of a caravan amphibian coming off the step with Old Brooklyn in the background.

I got to thinking about the FAQ's tonight and the thoughts are starting to flow. I have to thank the owner of "Cool Runnings" in San Juan, Puerto Rico for getting me back on course with Seaplanes in Paradise. After leaving Puerto Rico in 1998, I thought that SIP was perhaps beyond my grasp. It was a real eye opener to lose everything I had in pursuit of my dream. This fellow came downstairs from his office one night with a really nice flyer I had distributed years before. It was a simple one pager, but it had all the right stuff. He looked me in the eyes the way it only happens a few times in your life and said, "Man, you really had a good thing going! I've had this flyer glued to my desk for years. You got it figured out, so don't give up on your dream!" So here I am, working it out and growing Seaplanes in Paradise into a household name one client at a time. I'm really grateful to have the opportunity to serve those willing to place their trust in what my team and I bring together for the benefit of all. So many beautiful places like Lake Havasu to visit year-round, Worldwide! I look forward to the great adventures that lie ahead.

Wrapping up all of the little details necessary to have a really productive season here in the NYC/Hamptons arena. I'm taking care of advertising deadlines, creative direction, and operational preparation for the BIG upcoming 4th of July kick-off to the season! We're all Excited! This website is going to go live in a few days and I know there is so much more work to be done. I'm hoping that customers will be active in providing feedback so that we can provide the very best service possible. In case you haven't noticed, I love photography. I took this picture at Sunken Meadow State Park on the north shore of Long Island tonight. Can't help but wish I could just touch down on those waters and throw out an anchor for the night... As I read this 6 months later, I have to say this summer was the most beautiful one I've experienced on Long Island! The weather was perfect. The experiences on the water were stunning. The food was delicious... I realize why folks spend at least half their lives here.

Just got back from NYC - Checking out the dock at 23rd street on the East River. I've spent many hours on that river and dock in the past. I was responsible for shared charter, ultra-luxe charters and sightseeing operations... WOW those were some long days, especially when it was windy and cold. I'm excited to be back to help provide a valuable service on my home turf. It truly is a grueling drive back and forth to the Hamptons when you consider the alternative. Climb aboard and make the most of your weekends out east, whether it be the Hamptons, Nantucket, Martha's Vineyard or the Cape. Don't forget to plan your next vacation out west. We will be operating from Southern California to Catalina Island, Lake Havasu and select World Class Bass Fishing destinations in Mexico SOON!

Seaplanes in Paradise - The Adventure continues...

Getting ready to launch the third edition of SIP's website in 12 years.
This has been quite the road less traveled. I got this great idea that I haven't been able to shake loose for the last 15 years or so. Like most people, I've had to work hard to get here and there is so much more to do, but this is what I love and like the folks over at Life is Good say, "Do what you like. Like what you do."
I suppose we should start with a tour of the first site... SIP got its' wings during my MBA program, or was it the other way around?
Seaplanes in Paradise Puerto Rico
What a great snap shot!
